THE CROSSOVER LOVE MEME

Everyone loves a good crossover. Serious, natural, or cracky, playing outside the norm can be fun. Shipping is fun, too, and add the two together? INSANE amounts of fun. Really, that's enough said. This meme is for crossovers, shipping, and crossover shipping.
how to play
- Comment with your character, putting any preferences you may have.
- Comment to others! Remember, this is a crossover love meme, so commenting to castmates will result in the goblins coming to eat you. Or something.
- Use the RNG to pick your poison for you or just wing it.
- Have fun and watch your wildest dreams come true. Like magic.
one.
Obsessed love. You are obsessed with this person to the point that it is dangerous, unhealthy and absolutely insane; you want them to be with you, you, you, you, and only you, and nothing is going to stand in your way. No one is going to hurt your love - in fact, no one is going to come near your love. And if they say they don't love you? They will. You'll make them. Because you're meant to be together, and you're going to be together, forever and ever and ever. Married married married~
two.
Fairy tale love. You're convinced that this person is your prince or princess! Your true love! The one that you're destined to be with! And they know it too -- at least, they should. You must woo them, court them, try to convince them that you two were meant to dance with fuzzy adorable mascot animals and have a big wedding together! If they don't love you? They must be under a spell from an evil witch, or something! They do say that true love's kiss breaks solves all.
three.
Cute love. It is adorable, and sweet, and innocent. You want to hold hands and exchange chocolates and pretty cards and take long walks on the beach and talk about your future and your kids and aaaaw. It's just like you're in a G-rated Disney movie! You just want your True Love(TM) to be happy, and to know that you love them very much. ;u;
four
School Kid Crush love. You're apt to pass love notes and stalk admire your crush from afar. They're so cool and suave, and you're just little old you... but you just can't seem to stop thinking about them and scribbling their name into your notebook! Nervous, nervous, nervous. Ohhh, they're looking at you. How embarrassing! It's almost like they can tell how you feel about them!
five.
Love/hate. Of course you love them, but you're way too shy to admit that! Things like that are embarrassing, damn it! You'll yell and flail and hit the love of your life, but it's just because you're not sure how to show that you love them. I mean, you'll still be awfully upset if they try to leave you, or if they don't understand, or they don't want to kiss you... But there's no way you'll say "I love you"!! ... Not unless they say it first, at least. Physical comedy ahoy!
six.
Forbidden love. You yearn for them, but for some reason, you can't be with them! It kills you inside, and just being around them fills you with butterflies. But once... just for tonight, you're willing to throw it all away and be with them! But... what, they don't feel the same way? They're just being shy! It's time for you two to be secret lovers, and it's not possible if they're being stubborn! They shouldn't worry, you won't tell anyone! And you need this. It's scary, yet thrilling, and all they need is a little... persuasion!
seven.
Sexy love. Maybe there's some love hidden deep down somewhere, but that's not the priority here; first thing's first is that man needs to take his clothes off right now. You don't want to talk about your house and your white picket fence and your 2.5 kids; you just want to touch that person now, and you'll think about the rest in the morning. Kissing and contact and maybe a little lovin' are what you want, and nothing is going to stop you. No means yes. For underage characters (and those of us who w-would rather not write sexy things), kisses and flirting are all you need.
eight.
Extreme love. You have to impress the object of your affections, before they're stolen away by some fool! You can do anything when it comes down to showing how much you love this person, even if it means spending all your savings on them, buying nice things that they don't actually need. You're so overcome by your love for them, that's all that matters! You'll definitely win them over with your amazing shows of love and prowess!
nine.
Melodramatic love. This is very important and you know you're rushing things a little but this love was meant to be!! Your love life is suddenly a Shakespearean tragedy, complete with dramatic plot twists and turns, and you need to confess your love to the world before it's too late! There's no time to lose; in the morning, you're going to be exiled, your love is going to be hanged, your mother will be shot, your father will become a pirate and someone will kick your puppy!! For bonus points, speak in terrible, hilarious, terrible prose.
ten.
Possessive & Manipulative love. You want this person, need them, want to own them -- but things don't seem to be going as planned. They keep looking at other people and talking to other people... it doesn't matter if they feel the same way, you'll force them into doing what you want them to do. You'll manipulate the situation. You'll manipulate their feelings until they are utterly yours, and can no longer deny that they belong to you. Cold and calculating, you'll get what you want.

Whatever the inexplicable feelings he had, whatever his absurd yet almost light-headed desire to take Kiryu-kun's hand in the hall, when in public Uryuu maintained his usual aloofness. It wasn't that he denied the relationship, or even that he was cold--any with the mind and eye to look could see quite the opposite. He simply wasn't, and isn't, the sort for any gratuitous (or even slight) public displays of affection.
Yet, in private, he's slaved for hours on fairly elaborate lunches for, of all things, a picnic. He'd even found a basket at the Handicrafts store. Though his expression's neutral, there's a definitive upward slant to his mouth, a distinct happiness -- it's nice in a way he couldn't have anticipated. Cooking for more than one.
The plan's to meet at the park in thirty. It isn't much of a walk, so he's early, as usual. ]

His reward, of course, for a hard day's work, is a dinner at one of the fancier restaurants in town, accompanied by the daughter of a police captain. The head chef has a high rating, the food is superb and utterly devoid of peanuts, and the company is surprisingly entertaining. Gwen is pretty, smart, and willing to put up with the occasional autograph seeker that finds their table. It's an amusing diversion for Oliver. Manhattan has its own breed of wealth, so the rank and file of the city should be used to someone like him. But the notoriety is charming, at least for now. He glances up from the wine list and smiles at his dinner date, then the waiter hovering next to him.]
Can we have a bottle of the 2002 Bond St. Eden?

She certainly didn't mind when people wandered over to their table to ask for autographs or attempt to sneakily take his picture. If she hadn't been seated at the same table as him, she may have been tempted to do the same. Mostly she's impressed with how happily Oliver fields the requests. Not just everyone would stop their dinner to do that. The small acts of kindness are just a wonderful addition to her date's company. She smiles at the waiter and then turns her attention back to Oliver as the waiter leaves to retrieve their wine.]
2002 Bond St. Eden? I've never had a glass of it myself, but I've heard it's quite good. I'm excited to try it.

[He sets down the menu on the edge of their table, a little surprised that the waiter didn't think to take it with him, but not enough to ruin the moment. Dessert listings are still in front of him, but he doesn't put up the thin, leather-bound folder yet. This is an opportunity to sit still and let the sounds of the restaurant wash over him; the clink of glasses, low babble of other patrons, the occasional flurry of activity from the doors leading into the kitchen when a large order is carried out. All of it culminating into the pulse of a city, as experienced by high society.]
If the taste agrees with you, I can have a few bottles shipped out from California when I get home. [Now he picks up the menu, skimming through pies and cakes, looking for that illusive entry that might indulge his sweet tooth.] Any recommendations on which desserts are best?
no subject
[At his question, she purses her lips together before reaching for the menu from him.] May I? I've had desserts here before, but it's been quite some time. [With a smile, she glanced over the options before handing it back to him.] The honey cheesecake is delicious. But if that isn't your cup of tea, the berry tart is also good.
[It was a shame that he lived in Star City and worked in Metropolis. Their conversation had been nice and it was rare to see someone just...sit and listen. Gwen liked that. And the noises of the restaurant did mix to create a pleasant, soft din.]
no subject
[He waits while she skims the menu, reaching across the table to take it back when she offers it up, mainly so nothing on the surface gets knocked over or set on fire by accident, then places the bound leather on the side.]
Then I'll try the berry tart. Not sure I could handle eating cheesecake with honey dribbled all over it.
no subject
The waiter returns with their wine and pours a glass for each of them before leaving the bottle for them to drink at their leisure. He takes their dessert orders, picks up all the leftover menus, and heads into the kitchen to put in their order.]
And I don't think I'd call it a business dinner. It may have started as one, but I've actually had quite a nice time with you, Oliver. I hope that you feel similarly.

But to a keen eye, it was clear to see that he wasn't really interested.
Karakura, in his opinion, was turning out to be an incredibly boring town. Strange incidents of ghosts aside, there was little to amuse him and he quickly fell into a rut of boredom... at least until he met Ishida. Drawn to him initially because of his glasses, an amusing reminder of the partner he'd left behind, he'd said his hellos and quickly discovered that Ishida wasn't just a pretty face- he was clever, and there was nothing so attractive in this world as being clever. (At least in his eyes.)
He'd made a point of hanging around Ishida then. Just casual conversation and light chatting, getting to know the youth. If he was brushed off, it only seemed to encourage him.]

Outside of duty, of course, as now that he'd become Student Council President, it hardly seemed unusual to be relied upon by someone new. Even if it didn't feel quite like that, he was a public figure however one looked at it. Coupling that with his assuming Kurosaki's responsibilities in the absence of his powers, and his continued presidency of the Handicrafts Club-- well, he's busy.
So much so that, yes, he's certainly been brushing Niou-kun off. Not rudely, but firmly. Idle chit chat's never held much interest for him, anyway, with a few exceptions.
At the moment, he's returning from his second "nurse's visit" of the day. At least this one struck just at the last bell, so he's really only going back to collect his things. It's a rare off day school-wise; no handicrafts, no council. ]

Well, he was still waffling somewhat about the tennis club, a long lost and much favored pastime. It was just unfortunate that what he saw of Karakura's tennis team did not interest him. There was nothing to work with- no drive, no urgency to push yourself and no desire to shoot for the top. Even if he worked with these guys for the entirety of his time in high school, he was sure he'd only have something real by the third year. And would it really be worth it?
Half the fun of tennis had come from Rikkai itself- a team composed of uncompromising assholes who never gave anything less than 100% when it came to winning. They were proud, arrogant and ruthless. More importantly- they were all intelligent. Something Karakura's members seemed to be sorely lacking. It was just a choice he wasn't yet quite prepared to make.
Caught in his indecision, it was in this way that he ran into Ishida who was apparently returning to grab his things. Hands tucked in his pockets and bag slung over his shoulder, the look Niou gave the older male was amused and polite.]
Hey senpai, finished for the day?

Instead, the closest this high school got to club wackiness was the now popular practice of every club that involved anything physical hiring Kurosaki for two week batches. It seemed a little unethical to Uryuu, and contrary to club spirit, but there wasn't a rule against it, and it kept Kurosaki fairly distracted. Last Uryuu'd heard, it was basketball. With Inoue-san doubtless at her job and Sado-kun with his band, Uryuu anticipated a quick stop at his desk, then a fairly "free" afternoon. Maybe he'd go browse at Sunflower Sewing.
He hadn't accounted for Niou-kun. No matter. Uryuu returned his look with a cursory, polite one of his own. These days, he was better at small talk, instead of just coldly cutting it off. ]
Niou-kun, [ and a nod. ] yes. And yourself? Loitering here can't be that interesting.
[ That, he mused, or he was making up his mind. Uryuu wasn't in the habit of keeping an eye on all new students, though he had made it a point to know everyone's name. But, again, he wasn't obtuse -- Niou-kun was becoming a frequent face, so even with his best efforts at indifference, Uryuu was bound to pick something up.
Besides, a new student considering clubs was hardly unusual. ]

No, the problem with Ichigo was his heart. Niou got the distinct feeling that the ginger was always looking beyond what was in front of him to something greater. What, exactly, he hadn't quite figured out yet but he was sure he would given time. Though, to be perfectly honest? Beyond his prospect as a tennis player, Niou had no interest in Kurosaki whatsoever. The man just wasn't his type. Instead, the only reason he made note of him was because he and Ishida seemed to have a "thing."
A romantic thing? No, it didn't feel as such, but it was definitely intense and intimate in its own way. Something that Niou found himself wanting to disrupt. Rude? Perhaps, but he couldn't deny that Ishida was rapidly becoming more and more appealing the more Niou got to know him. To the point that he wanted to get closer to the other male...]
Mmm... that's all about perspective, isn't it? [His words had the distinct tone of friendliness as he stopped in front of the other man and looked down into his eyes.] I'd say talking to you makes things interesting enough.

Not that Uryuu gave much thought to romance, or anything that came within miles of broaching the topic. Call it a lack of interest, with plenty else to occupy his attention. And, well -- he'd only just gotten the knack of friends. Never mind the complication that absolutely wasn't Inoue-san.
Even if he was to think about it, Kurosaki wouldn't be dead last on any list. Only because he wouldn't even make the list. But, sure-- he'd make as good a tennis player as any he would anything else, except that he'd surely drop it at the first chance the seemingly impossible could be returned to him.
Though Uryuu wasn't actually thinking of Kurosaki in this moment, it would have annoyed him to realize how much he actually did, whether out of an uncomfortable feeling too much like guilt (so only temporarily did he slay Hollows at Urahara-san's request, only until Kurosaki's powers returned), or something else.
Either way, speaking of not on the radar -- he looked up at Niou-kun (hardly impressed by a taller First Year, given Sado-kun's height at that age), almost nonplussed by his proximity, that look in his eyes with his words, but managing to keep his expression neutral. ]
Really? [ Dryly intoned, with his mouth curving. ] You must be easily impressed. As confident as I am, I doubt I've done or said anything to earn such praise.
[ (...though he'd been pretty pleased with his speech at the start of the year.)
Really, he'd think this sarcasm if not for Niou-kun's tone. Which means, probably... Uryuu raises his eyebrows. ]
What do you want? I don't have that much influence, you know.

For example- why did Ishida move with such grace when there was no real reason he should? His movements- clean and fluid with all the certainty of someone who had trained their hand-eye coordination to perfection- were out of place for a Student Council President/Handicrafts Club member. Since he didn't share classes with the other man, he hadn't quite become aware of his common "infirmary visits" but if he had to be perfectly honest? Kurosaki had the strength and reflexes to be a masterful tennis player... but Ishida would also be a force to be reckoned with.
This, naturally, came from long moments spent watching Ishida move as he went about his day. (Niou really had very little else to preoccupy his time.)
So what else was hidden behind that typically stern expression...?]
I'm not. [Easily impressed, that is. Though his expression does flicker with amusement when Ishida announces he must be after him for political reasons.] I take it people rarely chase you merely for you?

As for Niou-kun, while his persistence made it impossible to completely dismiss him, Uryuu had very little impression or opinion of him. Observant as he was, and sharp, he'd noticed a few things, certainly -- that to call him merely athletic would be a disservice, that he sometimes had a look in his eyes that told Uryuu to brace for trouble.
Much like the look he wore now. It was an interesting question, if strange. (And he might prefer to answer literally, rather than read into the possible but ridiculous insinuation). No, people generally didn't, and the few exceptions -- the garish faces of a couple of mad scientists come to mind -- had been less interested in him, and more in what he was. ]
Why should they? I don't make myself a target.
[ Not in these matters, anyway. ]
Besides, I'm not one to be caught. Better for all involved to skip the mess and avoid wasting everyone's time.
[ Still not reading into it. Really. Even if, in return to being asked what he was still doing at school, Niou-kun had said that talking to him was interesting, and when charged with having an end to that means, the return was a line about chasing Uryuu for himself. Really.
It's ridiculous. He steps around Niou-kun, determined to get his books and go. ]

[The question is honestly rhetorical... though as much as he's just teasing? In a way his words do hold a note of truth to them. While everyone else was struggling to hold Niou's interest, Ishida not only caught it- but held it. The more reserved and distant Ishida acted, the more Niou wanted to find out just what else lay behind that perfectly stern expression. What other faces could he make? What was he like when angry? Sad? Frustrated or vulnerable?
What would he look like flushed and longing?
Personally, Niou blamed that last one on teenage hormones. He could be honest with himself and his newfound urges, sure, but it didn't mean that they were any less irritating to deal with. It also didn't help that he'd apparently decided to crush on one of the most difficult people in the school to hold a conversation with.
But, he also said to himself, hiding a far more amused smirk, what was fun without a little challenge?]
You don't have any activities today, right? [Niou inquired then, quietly leaving his previous comment behind.] Let's go do something, my treat.
[ooc: BECAUSE OLD SPICE. <3]

The satisfactory (if less satisfying) back-up, of course, was to simply brush it off. He's about to, turning back to roll his eyes and dismiss the question, when Niou-kun spoke again, surprising him.
And, unfortunately, using the magic words.
Uryuu had very little inclination to go. He'd set his mind on Sunflower Sewing, on perhaps a few hours of review that he didn't really need. Training, and reviewing what he'd already prepared for the meeting tomorrow. No, as agreeable as Niou-kun seemed, Uryuu felt no particular desire to go.
But--
my treat.
He wouldn't, couldn't even curse it, as he had no compulsions or issues with it--
the fact that he, Ishida Uryuu, was so damn cheap.
And poor, but that didn't concern him as much as it did certain other people, except that, as a matter of sheer practicality (really), he would never refuse free food. ]
Fine.
[ Promptly said, with his hand lifting to nudge his glasses. ]
What did you have in mind? I have veto power.

He chuckled then, pulling away from the wall he'd made himself comfortable against and resettled his backpack. A keen eye coupled with astute observations had made him a very dangerous player back in Kantō, as anyone in the junior league would attest, and it seemed his skill hadn't gone rusty from disuse quite yet.]
Even though I'm the one paying? [The way he says that is more amused than anything as he watches Ishida closely, noting the way he fixes his glasses and...
Damn, it's practically deja-vu.
Pushing back feelings of longing- of acknowledging the fact that losing Rikkai has hurt him more than he cares to admit- Niou turns slightly and only gives Ishida his profile in order to better hide any flickering emotions that might be sliding across his face.] There's a burger place down the street, any objections?
no subject
His mouth thinned, but only for a moment, before he turned away once again. ]
Of course. Or, you eat what you want alone, and I do the same. Either way, I still need to fetch my books.
[ What he'd eat would be from his refrigerator. Homemade, left-overs from the bulk he'd made on Sunday. The norm. As he'd turned, and begun to walk, he completely missed the change in Niou-kun's expression, and the more telling shift to cover it.
(If he were to learn about Niou-kun's feelings, then learn they were a result of his merely being someone else's substitute, needless to say, he wouldn't feel very generous). ]
Not unless it's terrible. Just a moment.
[ It's only a few minutes before he's back with his satchel, and exchanging his slippers for shoes. ]
Let's go.
[ Guess who's leading the way because he totally has the control, really? Yeah. ]
[ooc: lol awkward book grabbing but it would've bugged me if that never happened! Should... have assumed he got 'em before meeting Niou. ]

In truth, wasn't Ishida something of a punishment on himself...? And yet he couldn't help but feel drawn to the other man. Curiosity, desire, attraction and a need to be entertained had all gotten him trapped in this rather pitiable situation. He'd laugh at himself if he actually thought about it.
As Ishida pushed past him, giving Niou a rather unkind view of his back, Niou couldn't help but once more be reminded of another unyielding, glasses wearing youth and frowned. Being left behind to win was one thing- but he still didn't like being forced to watch another person's back. Particularly not someone who reminded him so strongly of Yagyuu. So, running his thumb beneath the strap of his backpack to secure it in place, he moved forward, long legs carrying him to Ishida's side.
Let Ishida think he has control, certainly, but that didn't mean he had to act like he would follow him if he led. Better to be seen as an equal in this situation, right? Though it'd probably take an age and a half for Ishida to think as much of him. The youth hadn't exactly hidden his disdain for Niou.]
Sure, but what's the rush? Part of hanging out is enjoying it, you know.
[ooc: Naaaah it's cool!
Also I should probably really drop the comparison thing but I keep feeling like part of their relationship would be Niou coming to the realization that Ishida's not a copy but his own self and shiiiiiit I am probably going to end up dragging this out obscenely long.]no subject
Simply, he hadn't much interest in or patience for the excess of the other guy's attention. Uryuu did not intend to be rude, or quite so stand-offish, but putting aside even the myriad issues that had long prevented him from getting close to others before (less an outright snobbishness about those who lacked spirit power, and more choosing to avoid the hassle, among other things), something about Niou-kun, about the way he sometimes looked at Uryuu, unsettled him.
Not that he would admit it, or anything like. The spark in Niou-kun's eyes was clearly intelligent, yet often enough seemed smirking. Amused, mischievous, whatever, and he thought, at times, oddly intense. Frankly, Uryuu couldn't see much reason for it, not directed at him and not without something ulterior behind it, and so he remained at that emphatic distance. Such came easily to him, anyway.
When Niou-kun caught up and walked at his side, he didn't react, not having expected much different. If he allowed it, any position had the potential to be awkward. As difficult as part of him (somewhat immaturely, he recognized) wanted to be, another part knew Niou-kun had a point. It wasn't as if he was Kurosaki, and even with that guy, it was long since clear (another thing he wouldn't admit) that their "hostility" was simply how they expressed their friendship.
In other words, if he was going to go eat with Niou-kun, treated to a fee meal on his afternoon "off," he might as well relax a little. So there's no bite when he replies, his nonchalance veering dangerously close to pleasant. His steps even slow, just a tad. ]

[When Ishida replies a little less curtly, in an almost amiable manner, Niou's smile becomes fixed as he turns a wondering eye on the other, analyzing this sudden change. He can hardly help it- it's his nature to scrutinize and seek out the whys of another person's actions, especially in the case of people he's targeted.
Is it possible Ishida is taking his words to heart? Or did Niou simply point out something he found worthy of acknowledging?
Either way, he hums a little note of intrigue and lets the searching stare drop. At least for now.] Hoo... then you're telling me to lower my expectations of you?
[Not the way Ishida intended his words, Niou's aware, but it isn't exactly impossible to misconstrue his words as such so there you have it. Besides, he's getting a little bit tired of that eternally composed face Uryuu wears all the time. That and his rather lackluster attitude about this whole outing.
It isn't that much of a chore to hang out with him, is it?]

[ Niou-kun's right about one thing, if only one: that isn't how Uryuu intended it, and he thinks just enough of Niou-kun to know that the other boy cannot be that moronic, and as such, only said it to annoy him. A intentional, artificial misunderstanding. No, it isn't impossible to draw that conclusion, but Niou-kun's shadowed him enough to know better.
To know better, or, again, be severely stupid, and unobservant to boot. Both which, again, it hadn't taken Uryuu much time to realize Niou-kun was and is not.
His brow furrows, and his lips thin into a pinched smirk. ]
In a matter of speaking, yes. And yet, quite the contrary. The problem lies in your word choice. Rather than lowering your expectations, Niou-kun should change them, or never have had them to begin with, not in this. Or, lower your expectations of the afternoon and this outing, rather than of me, as I never promised you anything. Blame your overactive imagination.
