Nature takes on many forms: from lush forests to snowy mountain peaks, bountiful coastal lands to harsh, sun-beaten deserts. Some of these places may be less hospitable to life than others, but all present their own unique challenges... and all command respect, for both their beauty and their power to support or end a life. Wherever you may travel, and for whatever reason, mind your environment. The wilderness can support you, but it can also ruin you. Will you fight it, or adapt to it?

[ Off-grid wouldn't be a bout of firsts with him, perhaps with the company of another for an extended period of time. He's taken in strays before and under much different circumstances. BK can't say this one has been anything he's experienced either, especially with the care that was involved now. They were making their way through the brush when it started to storm; torrential rain and some winds kicking up. There was enough forest to seek cover but it wasn't ideal to be out in this.

He's already removing his jacket in favor of mobility knowing that the long material will only begin to stick to and weigh him down. There's some long leaves that could be draped over for cover and enough brush around to setup a temporary shelter, but he debates staying on the move not knowing how long the storm will last. ]

The cabin is still a ways up from here. We could make it if we keep going, but the storm... [ He trails proceeding to pick up some sticks to feel out the weight of them. ] It might be better if we set up temporary shelter until it passes. [ There's also the risk that it could get worse than this and they needed to make a snap judgement soon. He begins Plan B while he leaves the decision up to her. Both options have risks and he's unsure what to do even if he doesn't say it out loud. ]

[ They were better off the grid. It made sense for both of them and comfortable between the two of them. While it was appealing to be out and about like this, the fact that they were going to be stuck this way for some time wasn't great. She didn't fully hate the idea of this because of the company, but she'd rather be with him than not.

She's not as heavily dressed, wearing a compression top with a thick goose-down vest over it and thick thermal underwear over compression pants. Her boots are the ones she'd wear at work, so they're comfortable and protect her ankles and feet well enough and she has the usual baseball cap which just keeps the heat on her head. She'll be decently warm, but she doesn't know how he'll manage without the coat. ]

If we can manage, I'm alright with it. Do you think you'll be warm enough? [ He can't fit in her vest, but she'd spare it for him. Jill removes her scarf now and offers it to him, pulling him down and wrapping it around his head. ] We need to keep the heat in for you, but it's your call. You know the area better than I do, Duncan.
