[ Erik wakes to the sound of the shower running, muted white noise behind a door that is only half-shut by its current occupant. It's an unfamiliar bed with a familiar scent, the coolness of the sheets beside him indicating that his partner had been in the shower for awhile.

Will Graham, newly reinstated FBI investigator, Erik remembers. A longtime associate he had been partnered to work with as an agent of Mossad. It's an unconventional pairing, but it had been an unconventional case Erik had been hot on the heels of, slated strictly to be under the radar and kept under wraps as much as possible.

And so, he supposed, they'd ended up here when one thing led to another, when two consenting adults with a chemistry and a mutual attraction decided to do things adults did that had absolutely nothing to do with work and everything to do with mutual gratification. Erik had been rough, fiercely passionate -- and the broken lamp in the corner, the discarded clothes at the entrance of the bedroom spoke volumes of their encounter.

He contemplates simply leaving; this would be cleaner, more clinical, but Erik is sticky and sweaty and he needs that shower like the bed needs a change after the night they'd had, going at each other like creatures in heat. And so he sheds the covers, and starts for the bathroom, naked as the day he's born and sliding the door open.

Erik murmurs above the clamour of water as he comes up a distance behind him, so as not to startle the man. ]

You're usually up this early, I assume.

[ he should have known. he should have known. the smell of werewolf was all over the house, but cutler had dismissed that because, well, this is the home of the war child, isn't it? hal had mentioned it when they'd heard the baby crying. so of course there'd be dogs around. he just hadn't thought... ]

[ it's weird, seeing tom like this. cutler's used to controlling their interactions: the armour of his suits and ties, the aura of his professional office lending him credibility, and a pre-planned, if flexible, script. right now, in a singlet and boxers in the kitchen, he's got none of those things. the sunlight dances through the window and brings out the ginger in his hair, and cutler plays with the spoon he'd just used to add sugar to his mug and tries to look like a dignified professional instead of a well-shagged vampire. ]
