Despite the romanticism surrounding the emotion, it can be difficult to be loved completely — not just the beautiful parts of us, but also the sad parts, the injured parts, the hidden and less-than-pleasant parts. There are marks on us, both physical and mental, that we'd often rather forget. The mental ones can just be easier to hide. As for physical scars, they can be off of our minds some of the time, but that's exceedingly hard to do in more intimate, close moments. Whether it's to your dismay or otherwise, your partner is not looking away and ignoring your scars. To the contrary, they're providing attention in a way most heavily associated with tenderness: kissing. It may be an accidental slip off target, or they may be trying to show you that what you've done and who you've been don't matter to them now. Does the gesture touch you? Make the walls come up once again because of the memories that are dredged from somewhere you'd rather no go? A mixture of both? The wound has long closed, yet the pains remains; these days, however, there's someone who may be willing to help you bear it. Reply with the usual: canon, character, preferences, et al. You may also want to say if you're down for smut or not, since it's not a given. Be sure to include what side you'd like your character to play. Mention if you can do both the kisser and the kissed. Also, feel free to talk about your character's scars. Reply to others.

he has burn scars from the right side of his face, across his back, down the top of his right arm, and a bit on his right collar. also has a stab scar on his left above his heart and on his left upper arm, above the elbow. just the most prominent.

[ Jill has tons of minor scars over her legs (and arms, though fewer) and one that's prominent: a large, circular scar that's mixed with minor burn marks just below her clavicle and between her breasts where a mind control device was placed on her. All tend to be covered pretty well on average. ]

[ They hadn't talked much about their past with one another in a lot of detail, but there left plenty of scars across one another's bodies to tell a story of their own. For Joel his most obvious one is likely the one near his abdomen on his side; impaled from a fall and a nasty infection later that left it more than a little gnarly than it should have been. That was the price of limited supplies and shelter when you were between places and trekking across dangerous territory. There are plenty of others littered across his body.

Jill was the same. There were several across her body from the nature of work they did and the circumstances current times afforded them and the path to get there. There was that one though; the one she doesn't talk about. It's not like she hasn't vaguely let him in about it, but he doesn't know all the intimate details about it -- what keeps her awake at night and the past she can't escape. Joel takes her hand in his, pressing it against his bare chest as he tentatively runs calloused fingers over the outline of her scar; the one that burns deep. He's quiet almost like he's seeking permission even if she wasn't shy about showing him it.

They weren't as intimate as they normally got up to and it was a stolen moment between them. Both sitting topless on the sofa as the fire crackling sounded in the background. The dim lighting lightly illuminated their skin and created stark contrasts between the shadows and contours of muscle and curves. Jill's skin was particularly beautiful against it and he couldn't help but want to touch all parts of her. First with hands and then with mouth if she'd allow. He looks at her almost like he's looking at her for the first time; curious and careful for now. ]

[ generally her physical scars fade fairly quickly thanks to force healing and cutting-edge tech. (it's also a psychological thing; if her scars aren't visible then no one knows the pain and suffering she's been through.) if she's still sporting any, most likely is the slash from a lightsaber: a long unbroken line starting along the right side of her neck and angling across the front of her shoulder to eventually stop mid-bicep. depending on what canon point she comes from there may be traces of others, such as evidence of being stabbed or what appear to be electrical contact burns.

very good with her giving someone else's scars attention or both characters doting on the other; she's definitely the sort to soak up any stories or bestow some gentle attention to try and coax the other character to talk about it. cool with things turning sexy or not, generally flexible on content. wide ota - canon, cross canon, AUs, OCs, timeline shenanigans are welcome. ]
