Well, you've really done it now. You're in a mental institution. Maybe it's a modern facility with a therapy garden, compassionate staff members, and a warm environment meant to help nurse people back to health, or maybe it's a glorified dungeon where the government shoves people they don't want to deal with and patients are abused by staff. Regardless of what it is, you're there, and it doesn't look like they're planning on letting you out any time soon.

Maybe you're actually not supposed to be there and you're trying to arrange for your release. Maybe you actually are meant to be there and you're struggling with your illness. Maybe you're not a patient at all and you're just there to visit or earn your paycheck. It's up to you.

Stiles is an in-patient or orderly because there's something supernatural afoot in the hospital (doctor? patient? orderly? who knows!), and he needed access to the place to Investigate. (yes yes he's very heroic, please hold your swooning until after the investigation is complete.)

patient
He cannot keep it the fuck together after being made a surrogate sacrifice and ends up committed for his own good. Symptoms include night terrors, hallucinations, insomnia, alexia, heightened anxiety, and inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Please come visit him, his life is Hell.

And then there's the classic 'werewolves and the supernatural aren't actually real, you're just crazy, Stiles' option.

( stiles..!!! How about the first option? Maybe he knows Sae (to some degree through handwaved cr maybe? a seemingly mute mysterious girl who moves into Beacon Hills. Sparks his "she has to be supernatural" senses-) and one day she just vanishes from town. he eventually finds her in Eichen House out of sheer luck when he goes to investigate. He wasn't there for her originally but he helps get her out. would that interest you in some ways? )

[In sum: She's been conceived/born to be the messiah of a fringe magical cult based around an old Eldritch-esque god, likely easily thought to need the attention of some supernatural collection agency or other For Science™ or Other Interesting Reasons™.]

If there was one thing Rocket knew, it was that there was always a way out of a place like this, and maybe you needed a multi-part plan like some kind of bank heist, and maybe you just needed light fingers and a trusting candystriper.

She knew there had been other times, after the fire, after the stabbing -those had both been justified as far as she was concerned- and she honestly had no idea that she was actually haunting the building that had once been Lennox House and then a series of other hospitals, asylums and recovery centers, up to the current one.

[ooc: definitely open to other situations as well, I just love the thought of Rocket helping people escape and never actually getting out herself because she doesn't realize she can't.]

[There's some options here: as a patient, he's got an ankle monitor that sounds an alarm if he gets any higher than the second or third floor due to the number of times he's been caught trying to jump off the roof. Not because he wants to die, but because he's trying to get enough velocity to initiate 'a kick'.
He could be volunteering/candystriping, either to visit compatriots or as research for a job, maybe even the job itself.
It could be the whole situation is a job regardless.
Anything else that sounds interesting, let's go!]

[Grandad tried to get him committed when he was in high school for a whole host of (mostly made up or at the very least exaggerated) reasons, maybe this time he actually managed.
Or maybe it's some kind of Mutant holding facility, in which case Henry's going to be double-pissed about it.]

[If it's haunted she's probably here trying to remedy that, whether she's doing so as a patient or as a volunteer.
Could also be she's visiting folks about Things They've Seen and/or Been Attacked By, because sadly people who get attacked by Things often aren't believed by the authorities.]

This could be Pennhurst, if we're going canonical-ish, or it could be somewhere with a more religious bent that her mom found. She could have actually died and come back wrong (in a way no one can really quantify, but they can all tell) OR she could have just been a teenage runaway, but came back only to be labeled recalcitrant and sent off to somewhere they can keep an eye on her. Likewise instead of going home she could have just been picked up by a well-meaning good Samaritan (or the cops) and she refused to tell them where she was from (or didn't talk at all)
Regardless: she is not having a good time, at all.]

If you want to work with them still having their powers, Claire could be stuck in the facility from Illyana's canon? Or some sort of similar "let's contain them' type of place.

If we are doing a no powers AU talking over lunch or in some sort of common area sounds like a good setup to me! I'm happy to cook up a starter just lmk what you think in regards to the powers thing. ]

[ Absolutely a patient. Suffers from regular hallucinations and violent fits after "a mental break" occured from "an incident" at school that left several classmates dead and led another to suicide. Is still afforded more freedoms than one in his situation normally would be thanks to family money. ]

unless he’s blue collar staff (landscaping/temp janitorial/night guard) or paid to kill someone there, he might be a patient.

he canonically stabbed a man in the throat at around 14 years old and has absolutely no remorse. the man killed his family in an arson fire, so maybe he was committed to assuage public opinion.

he can have committed this crime in any country or place, not necessarily korea.

he’s aggressive to systemic authority, or being directed physically (or touched unexpectedly), but if he’s left to himself he’s pretty quiet, almost awkward. he won’t intentionally harm people who are polite and kind to him, or kids, or old people. he will sell his left thumb to you for a cigarette.

apathetic to most crime, but intensely disdains ‘cruel’ people — sex offenders, abusers, arsonists, etc.

Dr. Outis really feels more like he should be a patient than one of the psychiatrists. Maybe it's the easy way he plays along with patients. Maybe it's the fact that he never seems to have a social life outside of the institution, despite being an undeniably magnetic and well-liked personality among staff. Or maybe it's just how young he looks, and the way he seems to always be smirking in a way that gives the impression of being unbothered... and somehow hides anything else.

And now it's Dr. Outis' turn to take on Klaus, because the last doctor threw his clipboard in frustration. When Klaus arrives, Dr. Outis is lounging on the couch like he's comfortable enough to nap, casually reading Extra-Ordinary: My Life as Number Seven. Dr. Outis gestures with the book to invite Klaus in--the room is full of cozy places to sit, and most of them are various loud shades of orange and yellow.

"Hello there, Klaus. Don't mind me, just cramming some homework here for our appointment." Dr. Outis props himself up on his elbows, closing the book. "You got quite the author in your family. The reading is much less dry than medical records, let me tell you. But I suppose you're the only one who can tell me how accurate it is."

Klaus is what Sunnybrook Heights would call 'a frequent flyer'. He cycles in and out of the hospital on a semi-regular basis, usually due to some issue from a judge as part of his release from probation. That's what's brought him here now.

"Homework's so bo-oooring, Doc," he drapes across the chair not unlike a cat, propping his chin in his hand. "Especially that old thing," he gestures with his free hand. "You're not gonna find anything new in there, you know."

“It’s a good thing I’m not looking for anything new, then.” The doctor is happy to stay on his elbows, and with how they’re posed, the two of them look more like teenagers talking at a slumber party than a doctor and patient. “Rather, I’m looking for old things in a clearer light.”

The doctor crosses his ankles. He wears a pair of running shoes, like he jogs to work in the morning. “I was thinking—your sister writes that you use drugs because the dead aren’t always very friendly. Makes sense to me—I’d be cross if I were dead myself. But considering you have ample access to typical antipsychotics in here but keep on going back to illegal drugs outside, I imagine she doesn’t know the full story.”

The doctor looks towards Klaus, cocking his head with that opaque smirk, waiting for a response.

"I can make your job suuuper easy," he leans forward, chin in his hand. "It all started when my father decided to adopt me. Everything from there kind of went downhill into the shitter." he barks a laugh and throws his head back with the force of it. But it is. Forced. Klaus is definitely a 'hides my feelings with humor' kind of guy. "Is that Freudian enough for you?"

He perks a brow and tilts his head. "I don't even talk to any of my siblings these days," he blows a puff of air between his lips. "Luther's on the moon. Allison is probably getting ready for- is it Awards Season yet? I lose track..." he trails off. "Anyway, point is- Number Seven doesn't know me anymore, and hasn't in a long time."
