The Rescue Me Meme

'Cause, sometimes, you just can't save yourself.

→ Post with your character's name, canon, and any preferences in the subject line
→ Those tagging, go to RNG and roll for a number between one and ten.
→ Alternatively, just pick the choice you're interested in most.

1. A Bad Date - You get a text, a phone call, or maybe you can just see the other person floundering on what clearly must be the worst date of their life. Time to step in and save the day.

2. Prison - Maybe they've been wrongly convicted, or maybe you're an accomplice. Either way, it's jailbreak. Maybe the guards will fall for the old 'wounded prisoner' technique.

3. Taken Hostage - They're being held at gunpoint, either for money or for fun. Maybe you can talk down their captors, or maybe you are a captor, secretly working to help them.

4. Abuse/Neglect - Your body is damaged, your suffering taken it's toll. You can't save yourself anymore. You're wounded, you're starving, maybe even dying. Someone, help.

5. Addiction - Just one more. Nothing bad will happen if you just get one more. Either way, you can't save yourself from this downward spiral. Someone else is going to have to help.

6. Yourself - One bad choice after another, your self-destructive tendencies are going to get the best of you unless someone steps in, quick, to save the day.

7. Climactic Situation - You're hovering over an active volcano, a pit of sharks, about to fall off a cliff. Whatever it is, you've only got precious seconds of life left.

8. Loneliness - You've been secluded, locked away, and the emptiness is overwhelming. You need company, or you might just drown.

9. Unwanted Social Function - A family reunion, your three o'clock board meeting, whatever it is, you desperately don't want to go. Hopefully your good buddy can come up with a distraction.

10. A Bad Romance - You're trapped in a relationship that's headed south, and you can't seem to get away from the other person. Looks like you need a helping hand, maybe a prince charming.

2. Prison >:)

[The weather outside the prison is the kind no one would reasonably want to be in. There's wind blowing so hard that the trees lean and bend, their branches creaking, trunks groaning; there's rain battering the stone walls, and shards of the beginnings of hail pelting the bricks. With the clouds above covering the moon, the night is dark, just as uninviting as the rain itself; lightning flashes illuminate the drowning world between the cacophonous rumbles of thunder.

All in all, it's a terrible night to be outside, but not so bad in the basement cells of a country prison. It's undeniably dank, but at least what water is leaking into the cells is limited by the size of the windows, each one a tiny, barred slit near the ceiling that's barely the width of the average human head. A person couldn't get through those, no - but the rain sure can.

And it's in one of those cells that the guards unceremoniously dumped Jade after her arrest. Congratulations! It's not only home for the night, but it seems she has a roommate: a man is chained to the wall opposite Jade herself, his wrists in manacles attached to the wall through a steel loop. He doesn't say a word until the guards leave and the rain picks up again, and even then, he waits a few seconds longer.]

Touch me again and I'll kill you. But when it's a matter of Quentin touching him or literally dying, Ash has to concede a little bit of contact. At least, so he hopes when he's wrapping his arms around Ash's knees and hoisting up to lever him off the hook. For a few strangely blissful seconds, he thinks maybe they can be normal--friends! teammates!--for as long as it takes to get out of here. Then, that opens the door. Then, they can finally talk and sort it out and--

Quentin puts his hands on Ash's face to check his eyes and Ash shoves him. Before they can start bickering, Kate crashes into Ash from behind and hisses go go go. No door open. No talking. Not yet. 

The worrying makes him clumsy. Sloppy. Even shakier than he normally is when he hears that familiar laugh, Quentin finds pills only to drop them down a grate when a generator blows. He gets lost between scalding pipes and can't find his way out in time to save Bill. His legs feel heavier and heavier as he tries to race for Kate, head fully tangled in the dream, lungs burning with the effort. His hands just barely make it to her blood-slick thighs before she goes slack, god, he's such a failure, such a fucking failure as he tries to get her off anyway. The Entity's claws stroke his arms, almost teasing as it fishes her out of his grip. 

Freddy's there, waiting, once her body is gone. 

"Too slow, babygirl." He sing-songs, yanking Quentin behind him by the leg. "I'd love to play, but Jackass McChin out there is on my last fuckin nerve--hey!" When Quentin's free leg gets a good angle on his hip, he pauses long enough to stomp and new curve into Quentin's hip, wincing exaggeratedly at the resulting scream. "Yeesh. Anyway--" 

There's nothing flippant or playful about the snarl he turns up into the hills when gatehorn sounds off. Ash must have the door, and not that far away either. Quentin's heart picks up pace, hopeful almost--before Freddy grabs ahold of his leg again and keeps hauling towards that last hook.

"--no one's gonna leave a perfectly good boytoy like you behind, Quen. So whattaya say: I'll get you up where you can get a good view, and I unbox your buddy? Get a good look at aaaaall the parts."
