Come To My Window

You know the drill from every nineties movie/tv show known to man, because apparently there were no doors in the nineties: you, oh poor you, are stuck up in your room, and then, a rock is thrown at your window! Why, who would do such a thing? No, it's not some kind of burglar coming in to steal all your...private room things, it's your childhood friend from next door (who totally has a crush on you/you're nursing a crush on), your free-spirited boyfriend or girlfriend, or another rebellious love interest who has a long, long ladder and no need for conventional entrances. Why are they here? To finally confess their secret feelings for you? Give you your first kiss? Sneak you away because your parents don't approve? Maybe they have a crappy home life and just need somewhere to stay.

Whatever the case may be, open those window panes and get ready for sneaking in, sneaking out, and possibly making out.

Inspired by all those teen movies where love interests climb in through windows. Play it as straight or as ridiculous as you want. Age your character down. I don't care, I'm not the boss.

[She has climbed into (and out of!) many a window in her time. But either one works.]

[She's got three older brothers, a window-climb might be the only way to avoid them.]

[There are exactly three people that make her feel some semblance of what safe is supposed to feel like these days. Lucas and his family are out of town for a few days, visiting relatives on summer vacation. She knows he'd felt terrible because of the timing being so close to -- well. The entire lot of bullshit that happened on the Fourth.

El is gone, across the country. She doesn't want to be pessimistic, but unless things to go hell with the Upside Down again -- which she'd rather not -- she kind of assumes she'll never see her best friend again. Or at least not for a few years.

That leaves exactly one other person she feels safe turning to, or at least hiding out with for awhile. Neil has been on a bender since the day Billy died, and between her mom's crying all the time and Neil's screaming, she can't stay in her house right now. She just...can't. The problem is, when she gets to Steve's, his car isn't there, which means he's not home and...well shit. There goes that whole plan.

There is, however, an open window at the side of the house, and...well. Hopefully Steve won't mind. She makes her way to the window, opens it a little farther, and slips inside the house, carrying her bookbag.]
