the stargate: atlantis meme

how to play:
- comment with your character, universe, and preferences.
- who are you in the stargate universe? are you part of the air force or the marines who form the core of the stargate program? are you a civilian contractor working in tandem with the military? are you a member of an alien race who has been contacted by the sgc?

one. OFF WORLD MISSION. are you being sent to foster trade relations with an alien colony on one of the many worlds in the pegasus galaxy? are you on a reconnaissance mission collecting information on the wraith? are you delivering medical supplies to people in need? you choose!
two. SPARRING. perhaps you're just bored. or maybe you're trying to prove something. either way, you're in the gym, pitting yourself against one of your colleagues. is this in the middle of the night? are you shirking other duties that are less appealing? are people placing bets on who will win?
three. SCHEDULED LEAVE. guess what? you get to go home! are you going to spend your leave lounging on your couch watching all eight seasons of supernatural? are you going to use your time off to travel your own planet instead of someone else's? are you bringing someone home to meet the family?
four. MESS HALL. ahh lunch time. the scant hour in the middle of the day when you don't have to worry about work and instead can worry about...whatever that thing is on your plate. maybe you're setting up a date to meet with that hottie from security who's been eying you all week, or maybe you're the type to bring your work to lunch with you. either way, it's time for a break.
five. LEISURE TIME. even soldiers on base get a few hours off each week. do you jog around the city? golf off one of the balconies? draw? sing? meditate? whatever it is you want to do, now's your chance. don't waste your time, you'll be back on duty soon!
six. INFIRMARY. well that wasn't very smart was it. you've gone and landed yourself in the infirmary and it doesn't look like you're going to get out of here any time soon. or maybe you will. how good are you at charming your way past the medical staff?
seven. WRAITH ATTACK. time to grab your guns, because it looks like everyone's worst enemy is on its way. do you even known which end of the gun to hold? better learn fast, because those wraith darts are fast and the last thing anyone wants is to be culled.
eight. WE'RE STILL ALIVE. or the obligatory smut option. yay everyone survived whatever calamity just happened! it's time to celebrate. go grab your special someone and lock yourselves in a transporter or a puddle jumper or, hey, even your own rooms. nobody will blame you for wanting to get down tonight.

[He shakes her hand firmly.] Thank you, Phil.

I'm doing alright. You Marines are a little hard on an Army grunt but nothing I haven't heard from the Air Force before.

We just need to make sure you're up to snuff.

[She chuckles quietly and twirls her fork in her rice, trying to keep herself a little bit busy so she doesn't look like she's pathetically pining.] I have to say, I've heard no complaints.

I'm more than capable, I assure you. Anytime you'd like to spar and test me, I'll meet you at the gym.

[He doesn't talk while he eats and like most soldiers he has a big appetite.] I've done the best I can. That's all anyone can do.

[She takes a moment to look him over pointedly. And yeah, she enjoys what she sees. A lot.] I think you can hold your own, even without proving it in the gym.

[But she kind of likes the idea of getting to throw herself at him and have it not be weird.]

I'm not bad. I've been teaching a few of the guys how to box. [He sits up a little straighter, trying to look impressive.]

You gone up against Ronon yet? [Phil would clear out a chunk of her schedule to watch Ronon and Steve fight, oh yes.]

I haven't. He's been busy with Colonel Shepherd.

They do tend to stick together. If you ever end up sparring, let me know. I'd be interested to see how your styles fit against each other.

I think a lot of people would be interested. He's got a solid reputation as a fighter.

Oh, there'd be bets placed. You can count on that. There isn't a whole lot to do during downtime around here.

I think it's great for running. The hallways seem endless sometimes.

Just don't get lost. That's happened a few times.

I've got a pretty good sense of direction and my visual memory is very good.

That'll come in handy off-world.

[She takes a sip of her tea and lifts her eyebrows at him.] So how long have you been working for Stargate Command?

No, not very long. Only a few months. The Air Force finally let the Army tag along for this expedition.

Took 'em long enough. We've been here for over five years now.

You guys are a little territorial.

Mm, you have no idea. [Phil is very territorial, especially when it comes to attractive men like Steve.]

Uh, I think I have some considering how long it took me to get here.

How long have you been in the military?

Since I turned eighteen. I always wanted to be a soldier. My father was one.

Ah, you're like me, then. [Well, except for how she's obviously older than him and not a giant blond Adonis.] It's funny, isn't it, being around all these people with endless letters after their names, people who spent year and years holed up in their ivory towers while I was overseas shooting at some poor schmuck just because he was born in a country we didn't like.

I much prefer working for the SGC, lemme tell you. Somehow it's easier to stomach when the people you're killing are actively hunting your kind, not just loyal to a dictator who's an asshole.

[Steve shrugs a shoulder.] I don't like killing anyone. I just don't like bullies.
