the monster & the maiden fair meme There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life. But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor? They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?" how to play Comment with your character, your preference, and what role they'll play. Feel free to AU characters to your desire role. Reply to others. Thread anything that could remotely fit under the umbrella theme. Was the kidnapping just that, or did both parties know (and care) for each other before, making it a collaborative, mutual effort? Perhaps you'd prefer to play the actual Beauty and The Beast-style getting to know each other or seeing behind the grizzly facade. What about an attempted "rescue?" Or maybe you could thread out a scene where the prisoner runs away from the society they were forced back into and returns to their beloved beast! It's all up to you. You could even do smut if you wanted to, but this isn't a smut meme.

It's been a while since Axel had company. Sure, sometimes a knight comes by, but they're usually not much for conversation. Kidnapping always seemed a bit gauche, though who is he to judge? Especially once he saw that flash of blue - so memorable from his early days of territory declaration, his first friend and first rival, a hybrid like him, blue and silver... It'd take more will than his not to snatch up such a bittersweet reminder.

So, now Dorian's seated atop a pile of gold, and probably pretty annoyed, even as a spoked, slit eye looks him over. He's not hurt particularly badly... Axel hopes...

Finally, he breaks the ice. His voice is loud, and echoes in the cave, against every coin in his small hoard.

"Are you hungry?"

Honestly, Dorian has no idea how he’d gotten into a situation like this - what he’d done to draw a dragon’s attention, of all things, let alone for said dragon to suddenly snatch him up and take him back to its den. He wondered if the rest of the Crown Keepers had tried to follow, or if they were searching for him.

And while a part of him hopes they will find him, another worries about what will happen if they do.

He can’t help feeling a little unnerved by the eye observing him. It would find that he does seem to be somewhat injured, though that had less to do with the actual kidnapping and more with a fight he and his group had been in before Dorian was taken.

It also puts him at a disadvantage, though, with Dorian down to his last spell that he isn’t sure whether to use to heal himself, or save it just in case. But really, even if he was at full health, would could he possibly do on his own against a dragon?

The rumbling voice startles him from his thoughts, and he can’t help hesitating for a moment as he tries to determine how much he could trust this dragon. Certainly it would have already killed him if it had wanted to, right? But he isn’t sure about accepting food from it either.

“I… No, I’m fine, thanks.”

[ the rumble left behind is going to generate enough paperwork that amamiya-san is going to make a comment or three about it. not that it'll be him handling the brunt of it but he has a way of sliding a hand over one's shoulder, of asking a seemingly innocent question that makes gin's skin crawl. fear, primal and inescapable. if shou is avoided and shunned by most of the unit, then what keeps people in line is the utter terror amamiya-san can inspire with a smile. gin is far from immune.

the damage is necessary, everyone knows what shou is, what he is capable of. but she's never seen him like that—inhuman to an unmistakable degree, the horns visible and the sharp teeth. her first thought is that it's beautiful, and the second is that it suits him. it's monstrous but not inhuman, those eyes couldn't be mistaken for anyone elses'.

gin can understand why akira is so attached to him. why amamiya is so reluctant to let anyone else touch his precious weapon. why everyone is terrified.

she shouldn't.

her fingers wrapped around his wrist, the wet warmth of still-to-dry blood on her skin. ] Shou-kun, let's go.

[ old habits die hard. shou thinks it would be easier if everything in his mind's eye leading up to this moment was less sharp, but it's not. his training is imprinted on him like an animal imprints on the dangers its faced — only his instincts have been crafted in opposition of survival. he will survive no matter what he wants. profound danger spikes purpose in his blood, sings of an absolution that lies just out of reach. adrenaline and muscle memory will always make shou take the blow not meant for him. their target made a mess of him, scraps of tissue and bone and the emptying of all his blood. when he'd come to, white hot with an animalistic rage foreign to his human body, there had only been one thing on his mind:

rend.

by the time he was done using his teeth, there had barely been anything left of the mission target that had gone after gin and gotten shou instead.

now, here, under the glare of the AMO's lights and with a hand clamped to his wrist, shou begins to feel the effects like clockwork. cruel, that he still has to experience time like this, to whatever end. he's burning up, but he shivers, like his own skin is rejecting him. it's a cruel polarity to have a body that refuses to fall apart feeling as though it's going to rip at its own seams.

luminous curls of bone still clasp at his cheek and his teeth ache in his mouth when his gaze flicks up, hazy. ]

[ a shake of the head, firm. shou hadn't even hesitated, he had jumped in and stopped what would have certainly been a fatal blow for someone who was human with a slight sprinkle of otherworldly. gin bleeds and cries and would die as any person would under the maws of an alien.

the delicate bones of her wrists, her fingers press down, more insistent in their tugging. the lights illuminate him, catching on the horns, the blood, the leftovers of the enemy.

somewhere in the periphery, gin thinks she hears someone retching into the nearest shrub. she looks, insistent. ]

Shou-kun. We can't stay here. [ she's not sure how fast and hard those effects are going to hit him, but she doesn't want him to have to stay out here and swallow the pain. that's cruel. maybe amamiya-san would be upset, maybe he would say it is weakness but— ]
