There's something to be said about stubbornness, but I gotta ask...

What kind of getup is the battlesuit for? That some secret BSAA prototype?

[ He's never seen a suit like that, even on the black market, and from what Jake could see? It seemed high-tech. He only assumes it's work related. ]

[ She doesn't want to bring it up because she knows it's a sour subject for him, too, but she doesn't want to withhold or lie. Rather, she wants to let him know anything she can. ]

[ He appreciates her not saying something along the lines of "takes one to know one" which wouldn't be untrue. Jake doesn't have anything sarcastic to say in return or a witty comeback. He does however find himself at a loss of words initially when she pretty pointedly answers his question. That's definitely not where he thought this was going and he gives her a look that says "you gotta be kidding me" before putting up a hand. ]

[ Which is to say he has no idea about Jill's history with him in that regard. It's also safe to say that he assumes it's something messed up and is instinctually bracing for a shit storm that usually follows his father whenever his name is brought up. ]

[ She very briefly did consider something like that, but she is genuinely grateful for the compliment coming from him. They tend to not come except in jokes and messing around -- much like her own are offered -- so getting one that he means, even in a moment like this, has to mean something. ]

It was during the time I was at his side under his control. I assumed it was partially an attempt to humiliate me and another to assimilate, to have things exactly the way he wanted them. [ She's thought about it a lot and ultimately it makes her incredibly uncomfortable. If he'd thought she'd come back to him, if he thought she would be beside him at the end of the world, why wouldn't he do something like this? ] I was usually in a cloak and mask to hide my features, though.
