Yeah, he's probably a sellsword. Definitely a thief background, but by god this man does not give up when it comes to defending others and trying to survive.

Born a bastard, Arkin "Sand" is of Rhoynish descent and a former Orphan of the Greenblood. He grew jaded with the gods, and traveled to his people's original homeland in Essos. There he learned some better skills as a thief, and then later as a sellsword. He survived a brutal encounter with a sadistic warlock who called himself The Collector, and has now returned to Westeros, distancing himself from that nightmare on the Eastern Continent.

Part of a political hostage exchange in her childhood, Ilde had been forced to come to grips years ago with the reality that no one was coming back for her - and that if she wanted to be free of her present circumstances, the only person who might get her out of it was herself. It meant patience, most of all; listening, watching, learning. Taking advantage of the small opportunities presented to her and using them to leverage larger ones, unnoticed - working out what it was she was expected to be and consistently meeting those expectations, never requiring that anyone look more closely at the woman she was growing into.

--the problem is, when the moment she's been waiting for presents itself, when she forces herself onto a new path (bloodstained and bruised but under her own power, finally), it's only now that she realizes she hasn't got the faintest idea where to go, or how to get there, or what she's going to do next. She takes everything of value that she can carry from the overturned vehicle and the bodies of those she left behind, but ignorance and bare feet are not going to get her very far for long.

"Indeed they have been mentioned quite a bit and interestingly they don't belong to only one people, but also by people from quite different cultures:
The Grey King belongs to the folklore of the Iron Isles about as west as west goes, as you said he is supposed to have married a mermaid
The Manderlys are a southern house in origin. The house is ancient and connected to mermen.
The Spears of the Merling King are a place in Blackwater Bay, i.e. at the east coast of the continent.
Braavos is on Essos and hails from Valyria. The Merling Queen, attended by her own little "mermaids" (dressed up maidens) indicates that in that culture, merpeople are a common feature as well.
It seems that mermaids are not limited to the folklore of one particular people but are known all over the place, wherever there's water. That's a further indication for some kind of truth being behind the myth."
