Dating
The Dating Meme

Dating is, when you think about, really weird. It's a totally different thing for different people. Some are friends for years before they date; others start dating on the same day they met. Sometimes, there's a lot mushy stuff involved; other times, the couple acts just like friends. None of this is necessarily right or wrong.
Whatever it is, your character and the character you reply to are now dating. How? That's up to you. Whether it be awkward or not, the relationship will be uniquely theirs.
How to Play
-Comment with your character and preferences.
-Reply to others.
-Have fun.
Prompts
1. Best Friends to More: Oh, wow, you've been this person's friend forever! But then you realize you have feelings for them, and they for you. Will things change when you change your status?
2. The Sudden Decision: Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here I am, date me maybe?
3. Confession: You've had feelings for this person for, like, ages, and you want to ask them to date you. Or maybe the confession just slips out...
4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!
5. I Guess We're Dating: Huh. We are dating, aren't we? Everyone else knew before us...
6. Slow Decision: For the more mature and seasoned, they might fall into something sweet without needing to rush.
7. Been Burned Before: One of you has had a bad relationship, and now both of you have to bear that brunt if you want to date now.
8. Innocence: This is your first real relationship, so you have to figure it out together. That's harder than it looks.
9. Courting: You're from an old-fashioned world or are old-fashioned yourself, so it's courting, not dating. Still, maybe you can sneak away from the chaperon.
10. First Date: Your first true date. What's it like? What would happen if...I don't know...it went bad?
11. First Kiss: Of course.
12. First Time: Together or in general.
13. The Perfect Couple: The couple that never argues and is more like best friends than a couple.
14. The Not-So-Perfect Couple: Ugh, these guys always argue and seem to despise each other. Why are they even together?
15. Comfortable: You can do anything around or in front of your honey.
16. Not Cut Out for Dating: One of you is anti-social, a jerk, a stoic badass, whatever. You're not dating material...yet here you are.
17. Getting on Each Others' Nerves: Spending too much time together can get even the most patient people annoyed with the person they're dating.
18. Know What You Like: It's almost like they can read your mind, whether it be in the kitchen, at the store, or in the bedroom.
19. Trouble in Paradise: Maybe it's external factors, or perhaps internal, but whatever the case may be, things aren't looking so sunny.
20. Test the Strength: Someone else has an obvious crush on the person you're dating. What do you do?4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!

22. Getting Serious: Things are getting way deep with this person. They may be the one...or maybe they think they are, while you're not too sure.
23. Old Hat: This relationship is dull. Can you get back the spark?
24. End It: You don't want to date them anymore. You want to see other people.
25. Taking It to the Next Level: You don't want to date them anymore. You want to marry them.

He didn't know what to think of it at first but now? Now he's really thinking about it and it seems pretty obvious to him that she cares. On some level. The question was which one?
Alex and Reggie gave Rey eager thumbs up.]
Yeah, it's cool!
Totally cool, stay.
[Luke nodded not even batting an eye at the use of the word diary.] Yeah. Something like that. [His nose scrunched. No. No way. How about you pick a number? One through twelve. We play whatever song that is.
no subject
He probably didn’t return her feelings…]
Is this how all of your decisions are made? [ She asked with a raised eyebrow. Him picking a number between one and something higher. But, she was willing to play along.]
Alright…uh, 7? [ It was considered a lucky number for a reason.] Or do I need to pick again?
no subject
Not all of them but sometimes. It's easier to sort out a practice that way. When it comes to a gig set we vote on it - usually. [He hummed starting to flip through the book only to frown when Alex takes the book from him. Continuing to flip throught it until declaring - ]
Lucky number seven. Look, Reggie. [The other leaned over peering at it before laughing.] I was hoping it'd be one of these newer ones.
[Luke stared up at the loft of the garage. These sneaky meddlers. His cheeks had gained a lot of color before he cleared his throat.] Alright, alright. Give it back I need lyrics you two. [He reached out to take the notebook back and put it down in front of him reaching for his guitar shooting Alex 'The Look'. Alex just shrugs somewhat smugly twirling his sticks.]
Don't be a baby, Luke. It's a good one and you have to perform it sometime.
Yeah, yeah... [And Luke pushed himself to his feet holding his guitar, his electric this time, checking to be sure it was plugged into the amp. Luke took a deep breath before striking off that first note; Reggie, and Alex joining in a fraction of a second later.]
no subject
I'll take it under consideration! [Just so Luke didn't feel like he had three people ganging up on him.
She took a step back, trying not to get too involved when Alex took Luke's book of lyrics. To her surprise, she managed to pick a new song. Her eyes roamed back and forth between Alex and Reggie then to Luke. Two of them seemed pleased with her pick whereas Luke was blushing? Did he have some...cute lyrics or something?]
If it's really personal, you don't have to play it... [She told them, not wanting to put Luke on the spot. Alex did have a point though, they would have to perform it at some point. The guys got ready and Rey moved back a little bit, wanting to give Luke and them enough room to perform. She set her small bag off to the side and loosely crossed her arms over her chest, waiting...
In a matter of seconds it was though the boys transformed into true pop stars. All of them working together to make great music and Luke--he was giving it his everything. She was lucky she got to see them perform, almost like a mini concert of sorts. Her eyes roamed to each other, watching their faces and seeing how into it they were.
Rey wasn't much for dancing, believing she looked ridiculous. So to spare herself and them from an embarrassing feat, she kept her motions to little taps of her fingers on her arm and nods of her head. When her gaze fell to Luke, she couldn't look away. Her heart skipped a little and wistfully thought he might be singing to her, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
When the song was over, her hands came together to give them a round of applause.]
That was really good.
no subject
Maybe it would be an easy way to get it out and just... guage her reaction a bit? Yeah. That'd be a good idea. As it wrapped up he hummed watching Rey. He didn't really know what to make of her reaction. It wasn't that there wasn't a reaction there was one it just was a bit difficult to decipher. Maybe he'll just have to give it a little push to see if maybe he can get a better reaction.]
Yeah? You really think so? [This could go good or this could go really bad but he's already toeing the edge here and he's tired of being afraid to take the leap. Luke rubbed at the back of his neck for a moment. A little grin tugged at his lips.] So you think a girl'd like it if she found out it was about her?
no subject
This story was about someone who wanted to express their feelings. Two people who were afraid to take the first step, but it would be an amazing adventure nonetheless.]
The hook is really catchy too. It's a song anyone can relate to. [She reassured him--and it was true. Everyone could relate to a 'first time.' That first step into the unknown. That first step towards something great--taking a chance. A lot of people would be jamming out to the song, dancing about and singing along to the lyrics.
Her smile faltered a little hearing that the song was about a girl Luke liked. Of course it was. He was the type of artist who wrote songs based on personal experience and...he wrote it for a girl. Wonderful...]
I think she'd like it. [She told him, trying to act the same as before but her smile didn't reach her eyes.] Probably be very surprised, but it depends on the girl. If you sang it to her like this, now? In a private setting, she would be taken aback, but still touched you did this for her.
If she's the type that really likes attention, and you wanted to make a statement, then performing it at the café would be the way to go. She would be thrilled. [God, she was giving her crush advice on how to woo his crush, whoever she might be. And why did it feel like Alex and Reggie were looking at them? No, that's probably her imagination. The same with the tight feeling in her heart. Just her imagination...yup.]
Uhm...do I know her? [To help Luke win his crush's heart? To maybe stop it form happening--no, no, she wanted him to be happy. That's what good friends do for each other.]
no subject
[He gave a nod of his head fingers moving along the neck of his guitar, the other hand plucking faintly at the strings. He only does it when he's feeling anxious or nervous.]
Depends on the girl. Right. [That didn't really help much did it? Rey's not like many of the other girls so he can't get a real read. He can tell she's upset? Maybe annoyed? He really isn't sure. And he's just going to ignore the way he can feel Reggie and Alex's eyes bouncing from him to her then back.]
No. I don't - I don't think she's like that. She's quiet studying in the library not a look at me party girl or social butterfly or whatever. [A long pause before..] Yeah. Yeah you know her. [Then a chuckle.] Really well.
Like super well.
no subject
[There was a groan coming from Alex and Reggie's direction, but she didn't pay it any attention. Alex probably dropped his drumsticks on the floor or something.
Rey was too busy looking at Luke, noticing how nervous he looked. One hand came up to tuck a strand of brown hair behind an ear as she tried very hard not to fidget or do anything that betray the uneasiness she felt. Sadly, the feeling only intensified hearing the type of girl Luke was into.
Her lips came together into a thin line for a quick moment, bowing her head to try and hide her disappointment before looking up at her friend again with a small smile.]
I think I know who it is. [She began, doing her best to keep the smile on her face the same even though there was a twinge of sadness in her eyes.] I think Rose is really going to like the song, Luke. [Now, she really wasn't imagining things as she caught Alex and Reggie staring at the both of them.]
Just, um, don't give her an actual rose. That's bit overkill...but perform the song the way you just did and it'll go over well. Promise.
no subject
[Luke was all too happy to ignore Alex's groan because he's glancing up watching Rey's expression but then -
Oh boy. She's not happy.
And he can tell. What was it though? Had she figured out it was her and was absolutely not okay with it like he'd been afraid of?] You do? [Maybe she does and she's annoyed with him for assuming she'd be interested. Well, damn. A fraction of a beat later his expression is back to confusion, worse than before.
He doesn't see Reggie motioning with his hands toward them while looking pleadingly at Alex.]
Rose? What to you mean Rose. I'm not interested in Rose. I like you, Rey.
no subject
So, naturally she thought Luke had been texting or chatting with her on the side. Because she was a smart and pretty girl, and probably more Luke's type.
Rey was preparing to make a quick getaway; pick up her bag and say she had to go home for one reason or another. Would that be cowardly? Probably. Before she could move to pick up her bag, Luke told her it wasn't Rose he was interested in but her.
Her.
The hurt she felt gave way to shock and surprise.]
You...like me? [The young woman repeated, caught off guard by his words and still trying to process what just happened. It wasn't Rose. It wasn't Rose, but her!] You like me? [She repeated again, still trying to come to grips with the situation and found her cheeks were starting to feel warm. Was she blushing? Yes.
Rey chewed on her bottom for lip for a moment before taking a deep breath. Hopefully, she wasn't going to sound idiotic for this:] I didn't know, but that makes me happy. I like you too, Luke. Like...really like you.
no subject
[He trailed off after a moment rubbing at the back of his neck. When he tries to explain it, normally without music it sounds so so dumb to him. So awkward and weird and Luke hates that so much. It's not the way confessions are supposed to go is it? They're supposed to be special or something, right? This feels just painfully lacking somehow - like he's screwed it up.
Or maybe she really wasn't interested and he'd made an idiot of himself. He's sure it wasn't the first time he's looked stupid nor would it be the last. It's Luke - he's made a fool of himself and been an idiot a million times before now and it's not likely to stop - he knew and accepted this fact.]
It's okay if you don't feel the same. Really. I just - [His hurried scrambling to assure Rey it was okay that she didn't like him was fine died with a soft hitch of breath. It was followed by a quiet and shy -]
You do?
no subject
So, really, Luke had been the braver one out of the two of them. He sang his feelings out loud for her, and actually told her that he liked her. It gave her the push she needed to confront her feelings and say them out loud without fear of being rejected.
The smile on her face transformed into a bright one. One that made her eyes shine. Her heart skipped a beat hearing that quiet and shy question. Taking another deep breath, Rey took a step towards Luke, and then another until she was in front of him.]
Yeah, I do. [And if that wasn't enough of a hint, she leaned forward give him a light kiss.
There couldn't be any confusion with that move.]
no subject
Reaching out, he's gently resting his hands on her shoulders moving into her space just wanting to be closer. There was a warm affectionate smile on his face, his expression and demeanor losing the nervous edge it had had before she said she liked him back, before her lips rested against his. There was no way to misunderstand of be confused by that. Luke reached up cupping a hand to her cheek as he gently returned that kiss his eyes drifting closed.
Whem he drew back it was with a peacefuland contented sigh; only just enough so that their lips weren't touching but he did press his forehead against hers. He knew they needed to breathe but he didn't want to break the soft affectionate contact they had.]
That is music to my ears.
no subject
[The kiss felt like it lasted hours rather than seconds, but her lungs were screaming at her to pull back for air. But, Rey didn't want to pull back just yet. Luke was kissing her back and she could feel her heart beating a little faster, her cheeks growing a bit warmer and wanted to stay as close to as Luke as she could.
Thankfully he had the right idea, letting the kiss come to its natural end and pulling back for both of them to take in air. His forehead was pressed against Rey's. Her cheeks had more pink to them and her arms had managed to come around his waist.
There was a soft hum of agreement from Rey, unable to pull away from him completely.]
I'm sorry for not telling you sooner. [Rey began, wanting to give him some insight to why she was so oblivious to who his song was intended for.] I didn't think you felt the same, and I didn't want to make things awkward if I told you...and it didn't work out.
no subject
[When her arms settled around his waist, Luke gave a low little hum. It was sweet, nice. He's not used to being on the recieving end of affectionate touches from romantic partners - not that he'd had many of those just a couple kiddie age crushes before this but still he's sure there's something different about Rey touching him like this, holding tight to him that was just special.]
It's okay. Like I said, it's scary, right? [Especially with all the not knowing if it was a shared feeling or not. the risk of crashing hard is more than enough to keep anyone quiet.] I get it but you don't have to worry now.
[He gave a little laugh and shook his head, just fond and warm amusement.]How could I not? You're wonderful, Rey.
no subject
[The compliment only deepened the blush on Rey's cheeks. If she could duck her head, even a little, she would've. But as they were so close, and the last thing she wanted to do was accidentally headbutt Luke--though Reggie and Alex probably would've found it slightly funny.]
I mean, I couldn't tell? I thought how you were treating me was the same as the other guys. [Another reason why she was hesitant, he might've seen her as 'one of the guys,' rather than someone as potential dating material.
Which never mattered to her before until they started hanging around more and more.]
But, um... [It was dawning on her that she was greatly interrupting their band practice -- and Reggie and Alex would probably like to have their friend/lead singer back.] Maybe, we could talk about all this later? I don't want your practice session to be a wash. [Or more of a wash because...she would like to kiss him again if she didn't pull away soon.]
no subject
Rey. [Okay that's fair. That's fair because he had no clue how to tell her or how to act. Sure he could be a bit of a flirt but that was all fake stuff to him and Rey - what he felt about Rey wasn't fake.]
I mean yeah but no. I'm just really bad at - some things. [He finished after a long confused pause. He wasn't sure how to explain he had no idea how to go from friends to friends to 'so-now-we're-dating' but he's sure Rey gets what he means. Rey always seems to understand him even when he doesn't get himself.]
OH. Right. Right! [He moved to draw back a bit. Only to lean in and kiss her again softly. When they drew apart he smiled warmly at her.] We can figure out a night to go on a date - maybe a movie? Just the two of us..
no subject
[At the drop of her name, Rey could only give Luke a stare, silently and sarcastically asking 'yes?' The guy was charming and it sometimes came off like he was flirting nearly constantly. Maybe it was part of his on stage persona or a way for him to garner more fans? Rey wasn't about to ask!
The look on her face gave way to a soft chuckle, a slight bowing of her head after he finished his sentence.] Like remembering to bring a pencil to class?
[A slight tease because that's how all of it started. Or was it when he first started playing at the café? She didn't know, and it didn't really matter. They went from friends to....friends-who-were-dating. An interesting transition, but everyone else around them could see they had feelings for each other.
Except Luke and Rey.
At least they were to finally get to this point! Sharing feelings and now talks of an actual date.
She didn't hesitate to kiss Luke back, but Rey had to remind herself not to linger or press too much. The point of pulling away was to lessen temptation, not dive straight into it.]
A movie? Y-yeah, that sounds like fun. [Luke would have to forgive her for the momentarily stutter as she briefly bit down on her lower lip. Torn between kissing him again and fully walking away. Behave. Kissing is not...addicting.]
A movie with just the two of us, or hanging out after school...doesn't have to be anything in particular. I just need to know when so I can make sure I don't have a shift that day. [Because responsible people actually go their work shifts and don't ditch for their boyfriends-- Wait. Was, that what they were now? Boyfriend and girlfriend?]
But, uh, text me later?
