The Dating Meme

Dating is, when you think about, really weird. It's a totally different thing for different people. Some are friends for years before they date; others start dating on the same day they met. Sometimes, there's a lot mushy stuff involved; other times, the couple acts just like friends. None of this is necessarily right or wrong.

Whatever it is, your character and the character you reply to are now dating. How? That's up to you. Whether it be awkward or not, the relationship will be uniquely theirs.

1. Best Friends to More: Oh, wow, you've been this person's friend forever! But then you realize you have feelings for them, and they for you. Will things change when you change your status?

2. The Sudden Decision: Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here I am, date me maybe?

3. Confession: You've had feelings for this person for, like, ages, and you want to ask them to date you. Or maybe the confession just slips out...
4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!
5. I Guess We're Dating: Huh. We are dating, aren't we? Everyone else knew before us...
6. Slow Decision: For the more mature and seasoned, they might fall into something sweet without needing to rush.
7. Been Burned Before: One of you has had a bad relationship, and now both of you have to bear that brunt if you want to date now.

19. Trouble in Paradise: Maybe it's external factors, or perhaps internal, but whatever the case may be, things aren't looking so sunny.

21. Pregnancy Scare: Hey, it happens. So, how do you feel when the period turns up missing?
22. Getting Serious: Things are getting way deep with this person. They may be the one...or maybe they think they are, while you're not too sure.

She knew she should just be glad that Sentimonsters had stopped appearing in Paris. But as an exhausted Ladybug drops down in a seeingly empty alley she can't quite muster it up. She was so tired and annoyed. She missed being a normal girl and her strongest wish right now was that she could find Shadow Moth and give him a swift kick and take back the Miraculous he stole.

Paris would be free of his terrorism. The world would be safe. And Marinette? Marinette could finally breathe and have a bit of fun with her friends. In a bright flash of red-hued light Ladybug's spotted suit and mask vanished leaving behind Marinette - just Marinette. There was a soft click as she opened her purse for Tikki to climb into to rest, her other hand tucked a stray bit of hair behind her ear.

"I know I'm going to be late now." Then again Usagi should be used to it by now, right? Ugh! that wasn't any way to think about this. No one should be used to Marinette being chronically late. At least, Marinette didn't have to think up some lie, she could just say she's late because of the Akuma attack - it's a partical truth. Plus, the place they had agreed to meet at was close by, a small blessing. "Are we good to go, Tikki?"

"Sure thing, Marinette." The small red creature murmured as she sank into Marinette's purse, taking the wrapped macaron Marinette always carried from the plastic wrapper to eat quietly. "I'm fine just tired."

"Yeah, that was a rough one." Marinette hadn't stopped to think that she might not be the only one to duck into this alley to hide. She hadn't given her surroundings more thant a cursory glance - she really ought to know better by now.

Equally, Usagi missed the simple joys of being a normal girl. She thought she was done with it after the Dark Kingdom, but that was a fleeting wish. Even coming here to Paris seemed to have its problems.

Disappearing into an alleyway herself, she let a gloved hand rest on her brooch, a flood of pink light and ribbons dispersed her sailor-themed outfit and returned her to her normal clothes.

“Great, now Marinette’s gonna be upset I’m late.” She sighed. Marinette was a great friend, but she figured the girl was getting tired of lateness or even her disappearances.

It was there she heard voices, confusing her. Was someone else here? Oh, no, she was so exhausted she didn’t check—

She slowly turned around to see who was there…

“M-Marin…?”

She started toward the mouth of the alleyway, fingers trailing lightly on the texture of the bricks letting it ground and calm her a bit. This was going to be fine. She and Usagi were a lot a like - both somewhat clumsy, very passionate, always a little late among so many other things. In fact, Marinette often thought they're so alike they make a perfectly matched set. And Ladybug stuff aside? It was true.

Her steps faultered hearing her name from near by. Not in front of her, not shouted in search of her but just in a normal speaking voice just behind -

She turned and her eyes went wide, anxiety and panic falling hard into her stomach like a lead weight. Oh no. Oh no. Did she - Had Usagi seen? An alarmed squeak left her but she pressed a hand to her mouth to stop the question that instantly wanted to come out -

'What did you hear? What did you see? Do you know?'

The frantic urge to flee surged through her but she felt rooted to the spot at the same time. Marinette forced her hands down to her sides; her leftt hand resting protectively over her now closed purse. "I - Usagi?"

Usagi blinked as she saw Marinette there. Her own hand went to clutch her brooch. Had she seen her? Did she know? They already had so much in common already and yet…

“Marinette, you…” Usagi began before shaking her head. “I should have told you sooner, but I thought there was no way you’d believe me…”

"I - I never thought I could tell anyone." She responded honestly. Marinette just assumed that Usagi saw, moving forward as she reached out to touch her arm. "It's - It's okay. As long as we keep it a secret, right?" The pigtailed girl offered a hopeful smile. "It can be something special we share."

Besides it would be nice to have someone that knew. Someone she could confide in and not worry about it ending up on the Ladyblog. "I promise, it's okay."

Usagi smiled wider at that, hearing what Marinette had to say. Marinette had seen her, didn’t she? But, there was something else…

“I’m… I’m glad to hear that. I just…”

She couldn’t hold it any more… she leaned forward, kissing her cheek.

Marinette smiled gently, encouragingly.

"Whatever it is, it's okay."

And then Usagi was kissing her cheek and Marinette felt the heat of a blush warming her cheeks. "I - I don't understand? Are you - Do you like me?" There was a pause before she motioned with her hands.

"I mean I know you like me but do you like me, like me or maybe you like Ladybug? Wouldn't be the first time really I just..." The words spilled out a mile a minutes she babbled, nervous energy working her up.

“Wait, those have to be exclusive? I mean, I kinda thought we were already going out before…” Usagi said, confused.

“O-oh, no, what if you like Sailor Moon more than me-me?! Ahhh, I’ve messed up!”

"No. I mean I don't think so. I mean you can like me and like me at the same time I just want to be sure?" She didn't want to mess things up, Usagi is really important to her and she would never risk losing this friendship.

"Sailor Moon? I mean sure she's great but I don't know her well enough to really like like her? It's not right to only love a person when they're a superhero. You have to love them all the time not just -"

Wait. Wait a second. "You're Sailor Moon?" Suddenly so much makes sense. They really are so very alike aren't they?

She moved closer. "Oh, Usagi. Of course, I like, like you. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry I just wanted to be sure. Cheek kisses are kind of a greeting here sometimes so I didn't want to assume."

"W-Wait, you didn't...?" Usagi stammered a bit as she realized Marinette hadn't seen her transform. But, the fact that Marinette admitted she liked liked her...

"Don't apologize, Marinette. I should have thought things over more. But... yeah. I liked both you and Ladybug. You work so hard and you're so beautiful in battle, but you're... you're so lonely."

"Didn't see you? Nope. I thought you saw me." She gave a little shake of her head and giggled softly. "We're really quite the pair, aren't we?"

Marinette toyed with her purse for a moment before reaching out, offering her hand to Usagi. "Still, I'm sorry." She smiled gently. "I don't have to be lonely anymore. I have you. Here - Why don't we go find André? Have I told you about Sweethearts Ice Cream? They say it's the magic."

"Nuh-uh! I guess we got lucky there, but... we really are a pair."

Usagi saw Marinette offering her hand and she went to take it, giving it a squeeze. "No, no you haven't! If you're offering, I'd be happy to go there and try it out!"

She giggled as she brought herself closer to her. "Though when it gets dark, I'm letting you see me as Sailor Moon..."

"At least now we can talk about it with each other? And we both don't have to make excuses for when we're late?"

She smiled slipping her fingers between Usagi's, squeezing gently. "It'll be great. I am! We can find André pretty easy too since it's so late in the day. He should be by Pont des Arts. It's a really neat tradtion for couples here in Paris to go get their own special couple's cone."

Marinette had grown up on that story. The story and the story of her father asking her mother to marry him by hiding the ring in vanilla ice cream. "Oh? I would love that. You have to let me take you up to the tippy-top of the tower. The view up there is breathtaking."

Usagi giggled as she heard what the ice cream was about. "That sounds so adorable! That'll be an awesome way to start off everything!"

Though, the tippy top of the tower? "All the way up top? Away from others maybe?"

"It's really sweet actually. Every couple gets their own flavors, too. I don't think any two couples have had the same flavors that I know of. It's always fun to see what your friends get." Only Marinette has always wanted to get one with someone so she's beyond thrilled.

"Yeah! I - Er Ladybug goes up there all the time on night patrols. There's penty of high places she can swing to with her yo-yo. I bet it feels like flying." Best not to talk too much about this in the first person. People don't need to know who she is since she has zero clue who Shadow Moth is.

"It'll be something if we end up getting the same flavor, but I hope we also get different flavors!" The idea of getting the same flavors sound romantic, but it seems even more so if they get different ones, even if its to help push that idea more.

Upon hearing how Ladybug swings through the skies, she couldn't help but let out a wistful sigh. "Oh, that sounds so amazing! So much better than just jumping from rooftop to rooftop like Sailor Moon."

"Well, a couple's cone is shared. It's a three scoop ice cream usually - so it's like three flavors that are supposed to symbolize your relationship to each other. But he does do personal cones, too. Sometimes they have three scoops others just two." Marinette was happily explaining as she lead the way toward the bridge.

"Ladybug does that, too. Running and jumping on rooftops but there's other stuff. She has these nifty other costumes that let her do other things? Kinda of like power-ups in a video game. At least that's what I heard. But Saior Moon has that nifty sword and her team, right? They seem super close and they don't change a lot."

“Ohh, I see now!” Usagi said, nodding. “I couldn’t bear ordering a separate cone for that - it has to be shared!” Now that she understood what it entailed, it sounded even wonderful!

“Uh-huh! We… er, they are really close! Who knows; maybe they’ll be able to meet Ladybug and work together! Especially with those power ups!”

"I've had single cones before. They're really nice too but there's something amazingly romantic about sharing a special sweethearts ice cream." She's watched almost all her friends have one now she gets to, too.

"I think that would be really neat. All these superhero girls meeting up and bonding. I can't imagine anything better. Who knows! Maybe they could help each other out. That would be amazing."

"Oh, it really would be amazing!" Usagi said, nodding in agreement over the meeting. She let out a sigh and moved a little closer to Marinette, resting her head on her shoulder.

"I wish I had said something sooner..."

Marinette smiled. "I understand why you didn't. It's scary to like someone you're friends with when you're scared you might lose them if you say anything and they won't feel the same." She hummed and tipped her head slightly to rest her cheek against Usagi's for a brief moment.

As they neared the ice cream cart there was a bit of a line but that was fine, Marinette was happy to use the time to cuddle with Usagi, squeezing her hand and swaying gently side to side. "You'll have to let me make you something cute to wear."

"You make clothes? You should have told me sooner." Usagi said, taking the moment to do the same. "I'd love to see what you can do. You're probably really good at it."

"Oh. I guess I forgot to tell you." She smiled somewhat awkwardly before nodding. She wasn't really used to many people take a lot of interest in her designg. "I make my own clothes a lot of the time. I make lots of stuff - earrings, hats. The only thing I can't really do is shoes." Marinette gave a little shrug. "I can show you sketchbooks if you're really interested. I'm still learning though."
