[ who even gives evening lectures? mo ran wonders, seated in the front row of the auditorium, right in front of the stage, restraining a sigh. he could be at home, on the couch, watching terrible tv shows and exchanging dirty texts with rong jiu. and instead here he is, on a friday night, at some engineering guest lecture that he isn't even remotely interested in. he should know better than owing xue meng --but people make mistakes and mo ran had naively thought he could ask a favor of his cousin, without that biting him in the ass right after.

xue meng is busy with who-knows-what and so it's mo ran who has to come to this lecture of xue meng's idol to record it and, what a loser, ask him for his sign when it's done. he doesn't even know this guy, he's never heard of him --maybe he's popular, though, otherwise why would the auditorium be so full as to have people sitting even on the stairs?

everything is crystal clear when he sees the man setting foot on stage. chu wanning is the most beautiful creature mo ran has ever seen in his life --he could swear the whole audience hold their breath the moment he steps into the spotlight. it's obvious why so many people would spend a friday night here.

the man oozes a unique type of cold charisma that expects undivided attention and mo ran suddenly understands the charm of being dominated, not given any chance but to do what's asked of you --it makes a hot shiver roll down his spine, unfamiliar. chu wanning doesn't seem to be interested in being popular or in the flattering recognition of the students --mo ran has seen too many men who teach just because their ego is clearly bigger than their dicks. but this man is just so passionate about his engineering job and what he presents, an icy beauty who grows heated only while giving his lecture.

mo ran is suddenly thankful for his front row spot, when he'd resented it before because it wouldn't allow him to text. he observes the man so intently he drinks him in, his elegant hands that draw lines in the air, the graceful column of his neck where a vein thickens when he gets excited about the topic, his bright and beautiful eyes framed by perfectly long eyelashes. mo ran thought his type was different and finds himself at a loss: he's never been this attracted, this quickly, to someone.

his attention must be thick, his gaze heavy, for the older man to glance in his direction so often --mo ran didn't imagine that, right? he can swear sometimes chu wanning really does look at him and yet his eyes never linger. mo ran feels himself growing impatient in his seat --pay attention to me.

by the time the lecture is over, mo ran has made up his mind: he won't let him leave just like that.

so he doesn't move from his seat, waits for the long line of people who go to praise and thank chu wanning to dissipate --all the while never stopping to watch him, head leaning against his large hand, like a predator waiting for the right time.

only when it's just the two of them left in the whole auditorium, he gets up. taller than most of his peers, with a fuller physique, long legs wrapped in ripped jeans that show the tightness of his thighs, a soft grey cardigan unbuttoned over a fitting black tee that leaves little to imagination with the way it clings to his chest --mo ran knows he doesn't look bad, he gets proof everyday in the campus, with the many rumours about him and the stares he gets.

he approaches chu wanning with an easy smile on his face, showing off one of his dimples, not exactly an earnest expression, but one that he knows to be effective --he's all too used to getting what he wants. ]

Good evening, laoshi. My name is Mo Ran, I'm Xue Zhengyong's nephew. [ surely that will get the other's attention, won't it? by the way he interacted with others, it's clear he has no interest in pleasantries. ] He told me you're friends.
