He's already burning iron and steel (necessary, to Push and Pull the way he is). Turning the metals on, even without any active Pushes or Pulls, causes blue lines to spring into being to his eyes, all pointing from different sources of metal to Zane's center of weight; any Push, and Pull is done from that center of weight. If the metal is lighter than he, the metal moves. If it is heavier, he moves.

All of the lines move with him, but one, in particular, shifts on its own. Barely at all, but Zane feels it viscerally, and he's already turning, his eyes tracking the cigarette lighter, when Mavros speaks.

A night spent leaping around between buildings -- Zane is fatigued. It is visible in his eyes, in the set of his shoulders. At the sight of company, however, he flares pewter, the metal responsible for enhancing physical abilities. The surge of wakefulness is better than any caffeine, and he straightens, subtly, his body heavy with power. Burns an edge of bronze, too. He feels no Allomantic pulses coming from the other man, which either means that he has no Allomancy or that he's a Mistborn, like Zane, able to hide his power as he wields it.

No way of telling. Zane isn't about to trust his words on the matter.

"I could show you," he offers. "Very briefly." The implication being defenestration. A long fall, and a short stop. He doesn't often resort to murder immediately, but it's worthwhile having the threat there. "Who are you?"

The lighter is of silver, of steel and very little else to diminish its quality. Custom made, but what wasn’t that he used? It was a nice thing and Mavros would be rather impressed if Zane deigned to do anything with it, though harming him wouldn’t be the best choice he could make.

He laughs a little at the reply and sucks off another pull of smoke. Well, then, that’s rather clear. And curious how he managed to smooth away the air and set of exhaustion from his form. While they’d had their demonstration and gotten something on a run-down on how Mistborns operated their knowledge still needed some holes filled, patches to confirm and truly understand. More tests to see if they were really worth using instead of keeping track of.

“Mavros Shahrizai.” The graceful sweep of his arm and hand holding the cigarette was something like a bow. “I guess I could say I’ve come like to you like most of the rest.”

But he will leave out saying exactly what to see how Zane interprets that.

He doesn't know how to interpret it. But there are certain sets of assumptions he can make: Zane is an assassin. People want assassins around when they need someone killed, or when they had someone they liked killed. Revenge, or for a job.

Zane wishes, not for the first time, that burning zinc or brass could give insight into someone's emotional state, not just manipulate it. He isn't the best at reading expressions, and he's never sure what someone is really feeling.

He steps away, still burning steel so he can track sources of metal even when his back is turned. Belt buckle, keys, change, the lighter. He sets the kettle on. His skin is chilled, from jumping.

"There's a risk I'll say no to your contract," he says. "Unless you have atium on offer." The mineral is useless to most, valuable because it's rare. Mistborn, on the other hand, can burn it to see a handful of seconds into the future. It makes a Mistborn absolutely unstoppable in a fight.

Zane has been stockpiling.
