You only get once chance to put your best foot forward. Screw that up, and you'll be forever seared in someone's mind as the person who had spinach in their teeth, or worse!
✨HOW TO PLAY
1. Drop a top-level!
2. If you have previous CR with someone, you'll have to let them know what your first-impression of them was.
If this is your first time meeting, you'll be compelled to share what kind of vibe they give off. It's okay to be honest! Are they gross? Do they seem approachable? Do you find them incredibly hot?
3. Find out if your first impression was correct! Maybe that strange loner actually has a heart of gold? You'll never know unless you talk to them!
[Marik eyes light up. He's not great at the game and has cheated on 99% of his matches but it's still fun at its core. Maybe now he can learn to play it properly since he isn't trying to steal the Pharaoh's powers anymore.]
I'm very familiar with trading cards games...! Have you heard of Duel Monsters?
[ If nearly 100% of people he has met don't like his jokes, can it really be their fault? He'll think about it later because while that name is unfamiliar, it's such a cool name for a trading card game!! ]
Sadly, no. But tell me all about it, I'd love to learn how to play. I'm into Genius Invokation myself.
Ah, but Duel Monsters is a strategy and luck based game. You summon monsters and calculate their attack and defense points against your opponents. You can even equip spell and trap cards to gain the upper hand. Both players start off with 8000 life points and the first to get to zero loses.
There's all sorts of themed monsters you can use. Warriors, Zombies, Machines, Magic Casters... Things like that.
[He might not be as nerdy but Marik's still curious. He'll have to ask Cyno to describe it for him later.]
You normally just buy the packs from various game stores and build a deck yourself. I can split my deck in half to show you the basics though if you'd like.
Also bullshitting his deck because we never get to see a proper one outside of Yami's.]
Ah, I've been trying out a couple of new ideas. My most recent is lower level monsters with status effects. I've run a bunch of different types though.

[
heavy breathing. did you say card games]When I inquired about your personality he described you as serious and stern but with a kind heart. Intimidating to those who don't know you.
[Marik wrinkles his nose a bit. That sounds more like his brother, which isn't a bad thing.]
Those traits don't really fit me so... I guess we'll just go with looking similar.

[
Yes. They gotta duel it out somehow.]What are you like, then? I'm curious.

[Shrug. The personality still wouldn't match up even for
idkhisbffbakurathe Spirit of The Ring.Marik takes a moment to think though. There are many words people could use to describe him. Ones he could use to describe himself. Most aren't good.
He doesn't exactly want to throw himself under the bus. First impressions matter. And this is the first impressions meme.]
Mnn... I suppose... headstrong, resilient, prideful.

We might be similar in that regard, too.
[ It must be the Heart of the Cards' doing when he asks: ]
And what do you enjoy doing the most?

[Vaguely Egyptian aesthetic is what Marik's chalking it up to.
That's a question he actually isn't sure how to answer at first. He takes a bit to think on it before he speaks.]
Experiencing new things. What about you?

[ Marik hasn't been subjected to his brand of humor... yet. ]
Are you familiar with trading card games?
[ If he only knew who he's asking!! Cyno should find out soon enough. ]

[ Only nerds play Genius Invokation. And, as a nerd, Cyno is quite curious about the game Marik introduced to him. ]
How can I get a Duel Monsters deck? I would like to give it a try.
