[This isn't how it was supposed to go. Hijikata never meant to end up in this random cabin in the middle of nowhere! Matsudaira had sent Kondou and him to check on the shogun's spacious mountaintop vacation home to ensure that it was ready for a weekend of autumnal leisure for the VIP (Okita came along for the ride just because he wanted to), however the car broke down, and on their walk in the vague direction of civilisation Hijikata couldn't convince the others to not take a short-cut through the woods...
Meanwhile the Yorozuya had been mushroom-picking, Gintoki explained when the three of them, hours after the Shinsengumi had arrived at the cabin and sought shelter from the faint rain, knocked on the door (at that point the rain had become a veritable thunderstorm, so Hijikata jumped like a startled horse at the sudden unexpected knock). Despite the immediate usual tensions the policemen ultimately agreed to let the other trio inside in exchange for half the mushrooms (everybody was getting hungry at that point, and of course nobody had brought any provisions with them).
To get things going in the evidently uninhabited abode they drew straws, leading to Gintoki and Kondou going to get firewood (Hijikata had some misgivings about that, but didn't say anything), Shinpachi and Okita going to fetch water (Shinpachi begged just about anyone else to take his place, but to no avail), and Kagura and Hijikata staying behind to clean up the cabin, prepare the fireplace, wash the mushrooms, etc.
By now everything on that last front is taken care of - the cabin is tidy, the spiderwebs are gone, the fireplace is ready for the wood... but there's no wood, and there's no water, and there's no sign of the others returning any time soon. Dusk is slowly falling over the forest. Hijikata, standing outside and smoking, watches the first stars twinkle to life high above. This is not good.]

If they don't come back soon we'll have to make do.
[How, he's not sure. But he'll rather eat those mushrooms raw or sleep without any dinner than venture out into the deep, dark woods!]

[ She...has friends who would take her with them on a trip? Unless this is all a prank. Still, that's fine, too; we all know she has a sense of humor about being tricked and humiliated!

[ Of course he got split from the group once the monster attacked. Absolutely typical. Running toward the only other cabin he's seen since he arrived with his friends a day ago, Steve yells all the way up to the front door where he bangs on the front of it. It's dark, the moon is high, and he's making enough of a racket that the monster(s?) can probably hear him, but frankly there are more weapons inside that new cabin than in the woods he just raced through for half an hour. ]

[Idea for "Ghosts"-- we could do an alternate history where, rather than going into seclusion and later kidnapping her old costars, Mary Dahl instead committed suicide and now haunts the place where she died?]

( definitely spooky with this one! any plot with eddie holding someone captive within the cabin sounds about right... forbidden could be a good one, with someone stumbling onto eddie's Murder Shack(TM) and eddie deciding that they've seen too much and now they can never leave. honestly, any horror movie trope could be really fun. )
(Lloyd is the perfect mix of doof [in sweet situations esp] and aware [in times of spoop], so tag here for plucky comic relief.)
