The Awkward Questions Meme

 

Does your character have a deep, dark secret? An embarrassing past? A sensitive issue? Something they really don't want to talk about? Well, too bad. That thing is now written on their chest on top of a bright red sticker, and the sticker won't peel off no matter what. Uh oh!

Rules:

1. Post with your character. Write out what their sticker says - it can be something dark ("Ask me about how many people I've killed"), something gossipy ("Ask me about my crush on my friend"), something silly ("Ask me about my fear of clowns") or something vague ("Ask me about my secret identity.") No blank top levels, please!
2. Comment to other people asking about the thing.
3. Have fun and be awkward.

Well, yes. I showed proficiency in magic, but if I hadn't studied it that proficiency would have atrophied like an unused muscle.

I'm sorry, did you say 'explode into demons'? Why would they explode into demons?

I wouldn't know, I've never exactly gotten a chance to ask one of them afterward. Oh, you mean, uh-- Did you not... know?

I thought, uh. That you guys just... knew. I mean, to watch out for that. Sorry to be the one to um, to tell you. I guess... it hasn't happened yet, so you're probably going to be okay for a while?

If you consider "A while" being a little over a thousand years, then yes. Channeling and summoning were never of much interest to me, so demons or other malevolent forces never posed much of a risk.

Is that...common for mages from Thedas? Do they try to contact the demons, or are there demons just running around preying on unsuspecting apprentices?

Not just the apprentices, that's sort of the whole... thing.

[But he's distracted when he says it, because this is what he's actually thinking:]

Are you telling me you're over a thousand years... come on. That would make you some kind of spirit or something.

[He doesn't try to hide the frowning way he looks the other guy over. He's not thrilled about the idea, but then, it wouldn't be the first time he's met one of them that looked like a person, acted like one. And that had turned out okay.]

Wouldn't being spirit require me to have died at some point? [He has, or at least made a good show of it, but that's beside the point.] And I think I'm a bit too corporeal for that anyways.

Asgardians live an incredibly long time. All Father Odin was well over 5000 at the time of his death a few years ago.

Well, you don't look a day over... what, three thousand? So, you guys' mages don't get possessed, and you all live to be a million years old. Sounds too good to be true.
