The Awkward Questions Meme

 

Does your character have a deep, dark secret? An embarrassing past? A sensitive issue? Something they really don't want to talk about? Well, too bad. That thing is now written on their chest on top of a bright red sticker, and the sticker won't peel off no matter what. Uh oh!

Rules:

1. Post with your character. Write out what their sticker says - it can be something dark ("Ask me about how many people I've killed"), something gossipy ("Ask me about my crush on my friend"), something silly ("Ask me about my fear of clowns") or something vague ("Ask me about my secret identity.") No blank top levels, please!
2. Comment to other people asking about the thing.
3. Have fun and be awkward.

So, when you say 'plunged the world into darkness'. You mean that literally?

[He simply nods in agreement to the statement. There's really not much one can say about it.]

Unfortunately yes. After he and that spider abomination he brought with him were done murdering the Two Trees there was nothing but stars and torches to light the world. I probably don't need to tell you the amount of panic this caused everyone.

Shit. Yeah. That, uh... that must have sucked.

[Not great, as sympathy goes, but to be fair it's not something people are going to say to you a lot. Kind of took him by surprise.]

So you don't get to see the sun or anything until you kick their ass?

It did... very much so, in fact.

[He understands. It is not something one expect to hear or live through after all.]

The sun and the moon happened after. We thought the world would be dark forever after the death of the Tree's... but some small pieces of them managed to survive and the Valar placed them in the sky. Another rather distressing event. For I, at least, had no idea what the burning globe in the sky was when I first saw it.

Oh crap. So, you'd never seen the sun before? Like, ever? That's, uh... huh. Hard to imagine that.

No. Before the sun and the moon the world was iluminated by Telperion and Laurelin, th Two Trees. The sun is the last fruit of Laurelin and the moon one of Telperion's flowers. They are just a small piece of the original light, it doesn't really come close to how it was seeing the Trees in all their glory.

O...kay.

[He's trying to be nice. He is. But the weird stuff is just not in his wheelhouse.]

So there were, uh. Sun trees. Shit, wherever you come from must be something else.

I was born in Valinor, the Undying Lands, home of the Valar those that sang the world into being. The Trees were the second source of light to the world, Aulë's lamps came before them but not even us elves had awakened at that time so we never saw them.
