THE TUNNEL OF LOVE MEME


Surely you've seen this sort of ride before, if not in person, on TV or in cartoons. The tunnel of love has become a staple, almost a trope in itself, of both comedy and romance. Most traditional versions lend themselves very well to that kind of awkward entertainment: the tiny, often swan-shaped, boats for two, the smelly and questionable water, and the garish colors and music that accompany the ride. Yes, there's a certain appeal to them.

Well, you'll see that soon enough. The Tunnel of Love you've found yourself on now has all this and more, including a fence that separates the two waiting lines. That means there's no way to know who you'll end up riding with. It might be a complete stranger or someone you know very well. Hopefully, whoever you get, the two of you will have a nice little ride together.

That is, if you can ignore some of the more...odd effects.

HOW TO PLAY
1. Leave a comment with your character. As per usual, you will probably want to list the character's name, canon, and any preferences in the subject line. You can either leave the comment blank or come up with a scenario.
2. Other people will comment. Congratulations, your characters are now stuck, willingly or unwillingly, on the ride together.
3. One of you rolls to determine what spell/effect/general ~magic~ will shape the scene.
4. Play!

OPTIONS
1. LOVE: The most obvious. No matter if they're complete strangers or otherwise, the two people in the boat together are now in love. It's not just a simple, understated love, either. Your feelings are of the intense, let's-elope-screw-everyone-else variety. NO ONE CAN STOP YOU AS LONG AS YOU'RE TOGETHER!~

2. LUST: Rather than being struck with the love bug, you suddenly want to bone this other person. God, they're everything you've ever wanted and you have to have them right here, right now. Who cares if you're on a carnival ride and in a tiny boat? You've gotta get your fix.

3. HATE: Uh oh. Something's gone horribly wrong, and instead of feeling positive emotions for your companion, you hate their guts. Nothing in this world disgusts you more than them. In fact, you might be so enraged by their presence that you take advantage of the dark atmosphere to hurt them.

4. FRIENDSHIP: Hey, it could be worse. At least the person you're stuck with is cool. The two of you have really gotten on, and there's a camaraderie here that's welcome. Maybe you'll pass the time making fun of how corny the ride is? That's a time honored tradition.

5. BAD LUCK: Remember that one episode of [INSERT 90s SHOW HERE] where the couple got their date sabotaged? That's happening to you guys. Your boat is sinking, or the water is spraying up in your faces. Or worst possible scenario, the ride stops in the most obnoxious part of the tunnel. You have to watch flashing cupids for a good hour before someone rescues you.

[Rarity dares a look back toward Fluttershy, beaming brightly at the compliment. For some reason it means so much more...]

I did just have it done at the salon today~ The hairstylist did a marvelous job~! [She tucks a few strands behind her ear--better to see you, Fluttershy.]

Your hair is looking particularly gorgeous today too, darling. [In fact, she may just reach out and brush those long bangs away from Fluttershy's eyes. They almost seem to be sparkling in this light. She really can't look away now.]

[ Oh my...t-that hand. She blushes and smiles. For some reason she just wants to lean in... ]

O-Oh, thank you Rarity...but you'll always look more beautiful and gorgeous than I...and I...like...it....

[Instead of pulling her hand back, she rests it against Fluttershy's cheek and much to her surprise, finds herself leaning in a bit as well.]

Nonsense, Fluttershy. What you have is natural beauty and radiance... It's something to be proud of, dear.

[ Closes the distance with a very shy and modest kiss. Her lips locked with Rarity's. ]

[Now she's kissing her bff? Wow. She never anticipated this to happen today.

And quite honestly, she's never been happier. She leans into the kiss, deepening it for just a moment before breaking it. She scoots a bit closer, wrapping her arms around Fluttershy and pulling her against her.]

... I love you, Fluttershy.

[ She's a little surprised she said that. But she feels...like she kind of always loved her. She doesn't know why she randomly decided to admit it now...she just did. And she doesn't ever want to take it back. ]

[Rarity giggles softly and plants a kiss on Fluttershy's forehead.]

You don't know how happy it makes me to hear you say that. [Snuggle, snuggle. Omg. This is the best day ever.]

Me too...I-I...I...I've always....loved you...so much.

[There are definitely some tears forming in Rarity's eyes. How could she have not noticed after all this time? Waiting for her prince charming to sweep her off her feet only proved to be a futile effort.

All the while, Fluttershy has always been there for her.]

Oh, Fluttershy... If only I had known. [She sniffles, tightening her embrace around her friend.] ...But I guess that doesn't matter now. Now we can be together forever. ♥

[Or at least until this ride is over...]

Oh, Rarity...

[ hugs her tight making a tiny squeal. ]

[She sighs happily and leans back against the back of the boat, content to hold Fluttershy and enjoy the romantic scenery.]

[ Fluttershy nuzzels against her affectionately. She gazes at the pictures and murals. It's like heaven. ]

[After a while, Rarity looks down at Fluttershy again, and pulls back one of her hands. She takes up one of Fluttershy's and slides her fingers up her palm and in between her fingers, lacing them together.]

You should stay over at my house tonight... [She rests the side of her head against Fluttershy's.] ...I don't want this to end so soon.
