[ It wasn't so bad. Being Jessica's Omega, for the most part, meant wild, passionate, bed breaking sex, and someone who could keep up with him when he went out jogging, and that was all great. Plus for the most part it did make it easier to have a partner in crime, or heroism at least, who was both willing to skate around the somewhat less...legal of the things they needed to do and do the right thing at the right moment. It was complex, but it was good, because Bucky just didn't fit with that idea of not hurting bad people when they absolutely deserved it. He didn't. If they got roughed up or knocked out or came out with a bruise or two he was a-ok with that.

But with HYDRA it got complicated real quick. They were both protective for different reasons. Jess got heated, went in guns blazing, and Bucky, who was being protected from going in on his own, who didn't want to, had to stay back and watch her through a rifle scope, the same as he had with Steve once upon a time. And sure, he was good at it, but it gave him anxiety, especially when some guy took a pot shot at her and Bucky missed it, and then, correcting himself with jittering hands, he'd taken a shot at the guy as they wrestled and since his hands were unsteady and Jess was pissed off enough not to be leaving him with line of sight, he'd grazed Jess' shoulder instead. It was a royal fuck up. Bucky's fuck up, mostly, all because he'd been too goddamn anxious about going in and dealing with his own HYDRA shit; because she was protecting him, because he was failing at protecting her, and all the other complexities of their mating, their working together and their encyclopedia of issues all mixed up together.

He'd tossed aside the rifle and dived in with his fists and a handgun, and they'd blazed their way through the little HYDRA outpost in no time at all. But now, he was livid, flecked with blood and high on fear and stress, the angry scent of her, and his own smell surely just as loud of a siren of distress. Both of his hands found her collar before she'd even caught her breath, and he was on her like a flash, shoving her up against the wall and snarling as he pinned her in place. This wasn't typical behavior for an Omega, but then Bucky wasn't a typical Omega, was he? Hadn't been one his entire damn life. Not until HYDRA. Not until her. ]

Which is why the second Stephen lets her into the Sanctum Sanctorum and closes the front door she shoves him up against the nearest wall and crushes her lips against his. She's disheveled from a fight, her adrenaline is racing and in this moment all she wants to do is either fight more or fuck.]

Control was key for their sect, to a point anyway and he could feel the threads breaking as time passed, his temper building to a point where there'd be no coming back, but he'd found methods of coping. The music helped, but it wasn't always available and sometimes he needed an outlet. Whether it be fighting or something else.

And there were people who could keep up with him, who he trusted to be able to pull him back from the edge even if he knew that wouldn't work forever. And at the moment, he's panting, one hand on his saber, blade digging into the ground as he stares at the man between himself and the wall. Their spar had moved all over the silent courtyard and he was almost certain he could feel eyes on them.

But he didn't want to step back either, his other hand braced against the wall beside Zonghui's head, taking a moment to try and calm his breathing.
