when things break bad...

Bad End AU Meme
Sometimes you want a fix-it AU. You want everyone to live, to be happy, to find love, so on and so forth. You want the bad guy to lose early, for victory and triumph. Those are great things. Those are happy things. But sometimes terrible things happen to good people and you want to get catharsis through making some characters suffer. We understand. We really do. Sometimes no one wins. Sometimes the villain wins. Sometimes even if the heroes win everything is for naught. Sometimes, things just don't end happily.
- Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Or don't. As always, we're not the cops.
- Reply to other people's top levels!
- Have fun!

I could maybe start us off with something to establish Eddie's been having these visions for a little while now and has been distancing himself from everyone else before Chrissy appears to him for the first time? ]

[ It had been a month since Hawkins experienced a catastrophic earthquake that left the town with a suspiciously inactive gate to an alternate dimension. Two weeks since the strange particles started to fall, indicative of a blending between Hawkins and the Upside Down, the effects of which nobody could say for sure. The Party had all agreed there was no way they could leave Hawkins, not when the gates could tear open at any moment and unleash literal hell.
Despite being nearly ripped to pieces, Eddie managed to miraculously survive. Steve had made sure to let hm know just how angry he was that Eddie did, in fact, try to be the hero, but not until after he dragged him out of the Upside Down and back to Hawkins. How he hadn't been immediately arrested on sight, he isn't sure, but the hospital took him in and got to work immediately, patching him up.
The first time it happened, Eddie chalked it up to the drugs he had been given. He had been in so much pain, of course they gave him narcotics. The really good stuff. The world around him darkened, vines appearing out of seemingly thin air, and he could hear a voice in the back of his head, deep and grating like nails on a chalkboard. It left him shaking, with the hairs on the back of his neck standing on edge.
The second time it happened, he had been weaned off the good stuff, so he couldn't explain it as a drug-induced nightmare. He had seen a figure in the corner who looked suspiciously like his old man, but that was impossible, the asshole was still in prison. He wanted to scratch at his skin, tear into it until it was red and raw, but Robin had interrupted his spiraling thoughts, happy to announce all the charges against him had been dropped.
But now he's being released from the hospital. Maybe...maybe the weird visions would stop. Maybe it's just the hospital giving him the heebie jeebies.
Yet something deep down is telling him that after everything that had happened, with the image of Chrissy floating in midair, the nauseating sound of her bones cracking burned forever in his brain, he isn't about to be so lucky. ]
