[ Unsurprisingly, she was trying to not be too detailed but also say "Chris" without actually saying his name. He's the standard for what she's interested in and the only one she could really consider settling down with. ]

[ She lets go of his arm because it's definitely a little more intense than it was from the start. Jill remains in his personal space, but doesn't make a move to get closer or move further away. ]

Doesn't sound too bad, but most people aren't up to temper my aggression or pessimism.

[ The tin read pretty well to him and he was relatively dense at times when it came to this sort of thing. Even being pretty direct sometimes wasn't enough to get him to move. Casing point was Jessica among the whole Zenobia fiasco. There only ever was one woman on his mind if shouting her name to the sea wasn't enough to make it clear. He had to step up and respond to it.

[ He thinks it's clever but he's just as awkward. Flirting was never his strong point afterall. The fact that she remains in his personal space is certainly not an issue, but it does remain intense from start. There's a build up of emotions, familiar and new, and he watches as if waiting for permission. There are some actions he wants to take, but he leaves it at words for now. ]

I could temper it. Been there myself at times so I know a thing or two about dealing with aggression. [ A temper is what he means, and he's had one on more than one occasion before. Jill was in good hands and he'd like to think that he understood her well enough in this regard. ] Sometimes pessimism is seeing things for reality. It can't be faulted when the worst has happened before.

[ And most people aren't her. There was no one else who would be afforded infinite patience from him. ]

[ Jill can be pretty thick-skulled, herself. She tends to assume any flirting with her is a joke or messing around with her the same way she uses it to tease other people. While there's indication at times that it might be more sincere than not, she doesn't always see herself the way that others do. ]

I guess you have pretty good taste in that case.

[ By all means, it's pretty face value, but it still feels like he's just out to mess with her. Even if he is, it shouldn't matter to her, but his words have always held more weight to her than anyone else's might. ]

You generally do hold me back when I get a little mean. [ Or a lot. It wasn't terribly common, but she could have little patience for people who didn't take a situation as seriously as she did at times. ] Sometimes. But it doesn't hurt to see things on the bright side, either.

[ It can be an absolute downer when you're pessimistic all the time, after all. ]
