The motel was a nightmare inside and out. Not only was it equipped with one of the creepiest managers Kate had ever seen, but it also had shag carpeting. Despite the avocado green bathroom and overly starched, burnt orange bedspreads, it wasn't the worst she had seen.

It never phased her, though. She had been an heiress at one point but that life was far in the past. Buried behind massive walls and mental compartments that she never intended to open. Ever. What she hadn't expected was for her own father to put some bounty on her. Why? 'Because he's a dick' had been Kate's explanation and she had left it at that.

That had been months ago and even if she butted heads with Dean more often than not, she had his back.

Kate had dumped her bow and quiver on the cheap end table that she swore had 'REDRUM' carved into and had beelined it to the bathroom. Avocado or not, it was needed and necessary.

Now, she had made the decision to use Dean as her preferred pillow after ordering a movie. The list was grossly outdated but also had some decent movies. 'No porn' had been her only request and had settled on the original 'Night of the Living Dead'. "I don't care what anyone says," she started, crunching on a handful of very stale popcorn that had come from the vending machine outside. "No one does zombies like Romero."
