[ It's been a long time since they saw each other, but he still knows her face. He'll never forget it. Maybe he doesn't think about it as much as he used to over the years, but she still crosses his mind once in awhile, and the wistful feeling can last for days at a time. Sometimes he'll think he's spotted her in a crowd when he's out and about, but it's always just some lookalike, bearing enough similarity to play tricks on him.

That's why it's so very surprising when he finds himself passing her on the street.

He manages a few more steps before he freezes and turns around with wide eyes, staring at her diminishing back as she walks. It couldn't be, but- ]

[ It's been some time since he's returned to the castle, having been stationed elsewhere for these past years and seeing the magnificence of the city, in particular the place he used to call home is a sight for sore eyes. A wistful feeling, like it'd only been just yesterday that he had been here receiving training for the first time as one of the guards. But he knows that it's been a good number of years since that first time he stepped on to the grounds and accidentally bumped into the princess on his first day.

Very fond memories that he remembers with a smile on his face as he enters through the gates.

His leaving had been sudden, almost as if it hadn't been scheduled until just the morning of the announcement that he would be going to another place for an uncertain amount of time. He had no chance to explain, to say goodbye, immediately told to pack a bag and go. And he can't disobey any orders, no matter how much he wants to at times.

But now he's back and he's not even sure what's the first thing he should do. Perhaps some ice cream? Unfortunate for him, Traverse Town didn't hold his all time favorite like Radiant Garden did, so maybe.

It doesn't even occur to him that before he could do anything else, he would have to meet with the court and give a report, not until he'd been ordered to do so.

He'd get to see her again after all this time.

So now, after giving the report that's required of him, he awaits the next order. All the while refraining from letting his eyes wander too far to the left where he knows that she's sitting. But at least from the corner of his eyes, he can see her. Barely, but there's a view.

After getting dismissed and giving a salute, he turns to leave but not before finally taking a look at her.

[ The worlds don't wait for you, do they? And time likes to just keep chugging along. It's been a while- too long, really. Since she's last seen him. All the world traveling does that. For a while, she was happy, you know. Being a part of the whole world protecting and world saving shebang. It's a good feeling no longer playing the waiting game at the islands. But the truth is- life's been so busy and hectic for her. She's hardly seen Riku or Sora. She barely gets time back on the islands, for that matter. At least that's how it was for a while. And the worst part is that they kept on missing each other, too.

Or they'd just catch up for a little bit only to be separated again.

And sometimes it feels like the only time they do catch up is when they have to fight together.

But finally- finally, no more. Kairi had it. She just... needed a break from world saving, okay? And with matters having calmed down, she came home to the islands. Of course, it didn't take her long to realize how antsy she had gotten to do things after all she's been through. So, not long after getting home, using the munny she had earned from pickpocketing Heartless, she opened up her own floral shop.

Business isn't the busiest, but it's something and she's been learning a lot. As in way too much as she waits and works and watches for any sign of homecoming. As she's currently doing while she works on an arrangement at a side table in the shop. ]

Then, an idle memory surfaces, from when she was young and just starting to sneak off to see the world above the ocean, much to her father's dismay. The boy from the pier, the first human she ever saw. That has to be who this is! The face is much older, but it's so similar.

She'd been so frightened back then, but she'd had to talk to him. Really, it was possible that he'd never known her true nature. After all, she'd been on the edge of the pier, her tail obscured.

Now, things have come somewhat full circle, and she's completely human and seeing him again. There's a tiny hitch here, though; to get here, she's had to sell her voice. So it's all she can do to gasp wordlessly. Should she approach him? It's unlikely he remembers her, but she can't resist the urge.]
