But Zhou Zishu will always have the upper hand when it comes to combat and he finds himself out-maneuvered and breathing in the dust and dirt. Coughing to clear his lungs, he waits for the final blow to land - Shuanghua has been knocked from his hand - and he tries oh so hard to prepare himself for death.

The blow never comes. Instead he is helped to his feet and informed of the treachery. Learning that one of his supposed friends organized their spar - likely hoping for the death of one or both - hurts and Xingchen recoils on himself after the man is captured. The only one he will listen to is Zishu.
