Your world could be crashing down around you in a final armageddon; you could not be missed, the world turning without you two in it. One of you brought this onto you both; you tried to save your companion. You killed them yourself. It was all an accident...this wasn't supposed to happen... How you've come to this doesn't matter so much in hindsight, though your sight is dimming as it as. What does matter is how you spend these last few moments with the person who means so much to you. If you're lucky, the two of you have lived a long, happy life together. Those who find themselves faced with a more tragic ending will have just realized their feelings for each other. You don't have long, only a few moments. Make of them what you can. Reveal your secrets, touch their hand one last time, give them an embrace or a kiss. Apologize, if you see fit. Do what you did in life, but make it count and hope that you will see them again somehow. Comment with your character and preferences. Well this is very thematic, the ghost with gold in his hair muses at the side of the lava pit. From fire you come, to fire you return. I certainly can't fault your sense of style, pretty one. Not even your brother could top it.

Is it a strange thing to think, as the one you loved most in life approaches the fires of the earth, the last death of many in his eyes? Fingon isn't sure anymore. The line between death and life is strange, even a century after crossing it. The living world seems divided from him, as if he sees it only through the worst of the worst of Hithlum's mists.

He seems divided from himself too, really- like he left more of himself than the obvious on the battlefield, or it wandered off to Mandos without informing him first. Or maybe some chill simply crept in as he watched Maedhros destroy himself, in Doriath and Sirion and a thousand places in between.

It doesn't matter, Fingon supposes. He chased Maedhros to Beleriand and Thanogorodrim in life and in death he follows still, trailing his uncle's greatest masterpiece and the damned gem he threw away sanity and hope for. He said he would, once. And Findekano Nolofinwion keeps his promises.

The heat of the chasm is almost enough to match the burning of the silmaril in his hand, and his spirit burning with such force he's afraid he'll share his fathers fate. Burning from the inside out 'til nothing but ashes remain. It would only be just, he thinks. Hadn't he always known this would be his end? That it would always end in fire?

All he needs to do is take that final step over the edge.
