Hmm. To me... I once thought it meant having the knowledge, ability, and resources to take control over whatever I wanted.

That's all too common when you have power through birth or privilege and aren't properly taught how to use it, though I don't know your circumstances.

But it sounds like you know better now, or have second thoughts. I have power through both - and it's a matter of responsibility and understanding that power is a tool, not a goal or weapon in and of itself.

What convinced you that you were wrong?

You are right. I was born into it and not properly taught.

As for what changed my mind... I saw... the effects my rampage had. It took me a while but it finally hit me that I was using the power incorrectly and for the wrong reasons.

It was a tough lesson to learn.

I haven't used it since.

Have you had to deal with that before you understood things more clearly?

It's also a responsibility, to be taken seriously.

Not everyone who's in that position is able to see what they've done, so that suggests you had some decency under it all. It's a hard step to take, and after that frst one it will hopefully get easier. It sounds like you're making progress.

I had good teachers, and proper training...[Paul swallows a little.] but my hardest tests are still ahead of me.

It allows the wielder to see into people's minds as well as control them.

[It also houses a dagger and allows one to control aspects of the Shadow Realm but he isn't about to share that tidbit.]

If you don't mind me asking, what are your future tasks? If you're already aware of them, that must make it a bit easier to prepare for, right?
