You've mentioned that there are beings who can find ways around death. Some of those beings are corrupted into something worse than what they were, a different kind of death. The Hive Gods, who feed off the deaths of others to make themselves stronger. The Fanatic's Scorn. Every time they come back, their minds get more distorted, and they aren't really Eliksni anymore.

[Paul is mindful that he's no Guardian and has no Ghost, so he has to be far more careful on the rare instances he fights. He's taken one Eliksni dreg, but that's all, and even that one kill was close. Paul would only stand a chance against a Hive Thrall and they never hunt alone. When he is an adult it might be another matter, but his abilities need to grow and that means living long enough for them to.]

The Guardians can come back from the dead, too, but they lose their memories of who they were beforehand. Good and bad. I wonder if that feels strange - knowing you were somebody else once, but another person now. Maybe the process of coming back does something to people.
