THE HEAD PATTING MEME

You want to show some affection to or calm down your significant other, crush, person who has a crush on you, smaller friend, random cute person, or random cute younger person, but the regular shows of emotion like hugs or kisses just won't do. So reach out, push their hair back, and give them a pat on the head. Which, by the way, can be surprisingly comforting when done the right way, I.E., not awkwardly. Or maybe you're the one getting the head pat. Are you embarrassed? Freaking out because ohmigosh they noticed you? Calmed from your freakout? Enjoying the gesture from your significant other? ...just don't punch them if you don't like it. They're trying.

[ Come one, come all! It doesn't matter if you are decades his senior, he will grant you The Head Pat of your dreams! Likely flavored semi-patronizing, but worth every second! Are you the President? Perhaps a royal? Some spiritual guru? NO MATTER. He will pet you all the same! In fact, a bald head demands patting.

As for patting his head? You best be someone he knows or he might take it as... well, as the same type of pat he offers others, ahem. ]

[Who wouldn't want to pet the head of the cutest little vampire ever, bat form or no? He can also give headpats, but you'll have to lean down if you're super tall.]

[How fun! Normally this goes the other way around, so he's especially touched by this turn of events. He can't help a softening of his smile as he lowers to one knee.]

[Easier on Ritsuka's pride, he thinks the boy means. But he won't say it aloud, oh no. He'll close his eyes, neck and shoulders relaxing a little under those little pats.]

[He could... want to be picked up. How he wants to hold Ritsuka! It's wishful thinking though. As if the boy would agree to such a thing.]

[ They are not his glasses, not at all!

Trying them on anyway, scrunching up his nose, then he brandishes them toward the perfect stranger he had slammed into hard enough to scatter their personal belongings. The other's fault, of course; he hadn't stepped aside. ]

They're broken. [ Well, one lens anyway. Casually, he hops atop the garden wall decorating the inner-sidewalk and plants those glasses back onto his face. Once they're neatly perched, he pats the man's head, expression stern. ] Watch where you're going next time.

[That had certainly been unexpected. One moment he's wandering along, no real destination in mind, and the next, here he is on the ground with this stranger, both of them groaning and going for their things.]

Ah, yes. Thank you. [Yep, those are his glasses. And yep, they're broken. Ritsuka is going to fuss at him for that, he's sure, but he sets them over his nose again all the same. He'll need them for his art class here soon.]

[Book gathered, specs where they should be, he thinks to offer his hand to help the man up, but no need, he finds. And then that curious little patpat on his head.]

Count me convinced. [Smile! And, because he's polite.] Are you alright?

[ The smile isn't returned since he has been inconvenienced! but he supposes the man has learned his lesson so he hikes the strap of his bag high against his neck. Planning to rush along the garden wall this time since a) seems more fun and b) it's harder for people to get in the way.

Stalling short, he skips once, then leans back in a slight stumble. Pursing his lips, he straightens out his hat since he apparently needs to give a field report on the incident. ]

I'm alright. Aa... [ Checks his phone for the time . . . but it's broken, and he groans dramatically. ] . . . [ Puffs and shakes his head. ] I'm not okay, Mister Glasses. Which way is the train station?

[The name isn't one he's keen on. A moment's thought and he decides it isn't worth mentioning. They may never see each other again after this, after all. If they do, he'll say something then.]

[For now, instead of fussing over it, as he's not like to do in any case, he gestures with a hand down the walkway, conveniently in the direction he had been going.]

You'll find the station just down this way. When you hit Elm Street, turn right and you'll see the sign. Can't miss it.
