[ Being the only diner of note in Storybrooke, Granny's can get a little crowded after most people let out of work. It's one of the few days that Whale gets out of the hospital at a decent hour in the evening and, not only is he looking to get some chow in, he'd also like some personal space. The booths are stacked and the bar is working its way toward crowded, so he's got to review his tactics.

He's seen August around, and has heard enough on the air to know the newcomer has been taking a special interest in the other out-of-towner, Emma Swan. He also just so happens to have one seat open to his left and two to the right; Dr. Whale wants at least one seat open to either side of him.

So he approaches the other man, putting on his best 'for the people' smile. He's initially going for 'uncomfortably friendly' as he sidles up beside Booth. ]

Hey, you're the new guy, aren't you? You mind if I join you?

[ Without waiting for a confirmation, the blonde slides into the seat to August's right, giving Whale an open seat to his own right. The proximity has the maneuver temporarily brushing his knees against the outside of August's thigh.

Still in the spirit of amiability, the physician offers his hand. ]
