Whatever it is, make sure to give it a name and to take good care of it! 10] holiday Happy birthday/New Years/Christmas/Valentine's Day/whatever! It's a very special day that only comes once a year, so make it count! 11] argument Oh, no, who left the stove on... Or maybe it's about why they were out late last night? Rose had pointedly cloistered herself in her room almost the moment Julie had brought up the necessity of spring cleaning. At the best of times, cleaning was something she abhorred. It wasn't that she was a messy person or a slob, far from it, in fact she was borderline OCD when it came to keeping her things organised, but the thought of pushing a vacuum around, wiping down all those dusty surfaces, and worse, having to delve into her hoard of odds and ends and be forced to actually get rid of some stuff simply didn't appeal to her. Not today at the very least.

So the moment the subject of cleaning had come up, she'd promptly retreated to their room on some pretext and pretty much barricaded herself in there. That is, she'd locked the door. Hopefully her suddenly cleanliness obsessed girlfriend would get the hint.

To make it clearer though, she'd stuck a note on the bedroom door written in bold Sharpie.

Getting Rose angry enough to actually argue took a bit of doing, if onyl because she preferred to make herself seem as cool as a cucumber most of the time. If nothing else, presenting that calm public face helped her keep herself reigned in. Of course, there were times when she'd simply had a bad day, where the little things kept adding up and she simply had to let it out somehow. Today, for example, she hadn't been able to make any progress in her writing; the pages stayed stubbornly blank and the last few horus of research had led her in circles. True, her freelance writing (the stuff she sent in to magazines and story anthologies) sold well enough, but this - this was supposed to be her important life's work and she felt stuck in a rut.

To compound it she was starting to feel frustrated by the hours her girlfriend was keeping. It was completely irrational, she knew - it was just a symptom of her increasing anger and frustration with her own inability to make any forward progress - but lately Wilson had been getting in later than usual and it rankled her. She'd known that Wilson kept odd hours when they'd moved in together and she'd managed not to let it get to her, but tonight - tonight everything boiled over. She had to get it out somehow and Rose just happened to be a convenient target.

So bright and early the next morning, she confronted Rose over breakfast.

"Would it kill you," she said quite calmly (although anyone who'd known her for long could probably detect the note of frustration in her voice) as she buttered a piece of toast, "To make an attempt to get home at a healthy hour?"

[The only sound in Molly's bathroom is that of scissor blades snicking together. The sink is full of dark, wet curls. The scissors close again, another lock falls, and Sherlock glances up into the mirror above the sink, squinting critically at her reflection.

She's stolen Molly's dressing gown, which really doesn't suit her and is too short on her arms—but she hadn't exactly been able to pack a bag before jumping, and the clothes she was wearing before her shower have been, well. Someone died in them. She runs her hand through her hair, trying to remember where she last saw her parting. With the curls weighed down by water, it looks something like a jagged bob, except the word 'bob' is a little too purposeful. She hasn't had it quite so short since university, but it needs to be shorter still.

It's not like cutting her hair is anything new—God knows she's never felt any particular inclination to pay to have someone paw through it and ask her about her holidays—but she's never actually gone so far as to alter it for a disguise. She's usually happy to hack at it and trust the curls to disguise any unevenness. It might not be so simple in this case.

She opens her mouth to yell, and manages the M of Molly before slumping with exhausted annoyance at the idea of having to do anything so taxing and tedious as shout. She bends down and searches in the pockets of her discarded trousers for her phone. That is, the cheap, disposable replacement for her phone. Distantly, she regrets not having her BlackBerry anymore, mostly to stop herself from regretting anything else.]

[Even the best of friends have fights, and considering just how they were, something was bound to happen sooner or later. Probably one of the worst things about being seen by an entire castle was that it wasn't such a one-sided conversation if they overheard. So avoiding Castle DunBroch was in order - it wasn't like he had other things to do anyway (Moscow was in need of a snowstorm). But of course, after a while things started gnawing at Jack on the inside, like they always did. Sometimes their arguments only lasted for a short while but he knew he'd overreacted. Maybe a little bloody guilt trips.

When Merida returns to her room that night, she'll find a perfect ice rose sitting on her window sill, and a certain winter spirit perched on it outside.]
