[ He came back from work thirty minutes ago. One quick shower later, he's busy by the kitchen counter, chopping mushrooms to mix for pesto along with garlic cloves and kale. Elio, next to him, is going through all the frankly exhausting stages of creating a batch of homemade pasta from scratch. They've been working in comfortable silence so far, the huge space of the apartment swallowing up most sounds - their footfalls, the kitchenware clinking, the subtle buzz of the range hood.

Once in a while, Jean Louis' phone vibrates on the table next to him. He ignores it for the most part - he's got a programmer stationed on the outskirts of the city, working on setting up a secure hub for some future exchanges planned out between the Dutch and some of his contacts in the Far-East. So long as he hasn't heard from his contact down in Cyber, they won't be getting anywhere and the good Lady A. can't be rushed. Not even for a million fucking Euros. He once made the mistake of calling her thrice in a short span of time, after which she'd let him know that due to his interference, her infant daughter would now be going to sleep at least two hours later than planned and to please fuck off for the rest of eternity.

She'd then proceeded to ignore him for a month and a half, flatlining three projects in the process.

He'd shoot her but then, he'd have to find someone else equally good, both at getting him fake clearances and not getting caught. So, you know.

His programmer can obviously wait.

He minces away, movements steady, unhurried but efficient. ]
