Questions.

A QUESTION FOR A QUESTION

YOU MAY KNOW EACH OTHER ALREADY - OR YOU MAY NOT. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, YOU'RE NOW PASSING THE TIME ASKING EACH OTHER QUESTIONS. IT'S A GAME! A QUESTION FOR A QUESTION. YOU START OFF ASKING YOUR OPPONENT A QUESTION OF CHOICE AND IF THEY ANSWER IT, THEY'RE ALLOWED TO ASK YOU A QUESTION IN TURN. THE RULES ARE SIMPLE, ONLY AS LONG AS YOU ANSWER THE OTHER PERSON'S QUESTIONS ARE YOU ALLOWED TO ASK QUESTIONS YOURSELF, BUT THERE IS NO EXPECTATION OF TRUTHFULNESS HERE, LIE IF YOU MUST OR WANT, JUST KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING.

How to play -
1. Comment with your character's name, fandom and preference.
2. If you want, leave a question in the comment field that your character is asking their opponent. Or don't. I'm not the cops.
3. Pick other characters to question and have fun!

Oh, there’s definitely right and wrong ways to break a fall. All of which are learned the hard way. And not always on a soft forgiving surface like you get on American Ninja Warrior.

Do exterminators work on teams to pal up with? I guess I always thought you guys did that kind of stuff alone.

Ha, I forgot about that show. Bet you'd have a blast on it then.

Your "team" is just whoever you work for, really. For bigger jobs they do send a bunch of us in. But generally it's just me by my lonesome, which is how I like it.

Ever feel like you need a break from all those people around the hospital, day-to-day? Must be chaotic, to say the least.

Oh, being on that show would be a dream come true!!

It’s weird, but I like the pace of everything at the hospital. Most of the odd jobs I did when we first moved out were so boring. I was always getting written up for something related to focus, attention-span, not being able to just stand still like a normal person… But there’s so much coming at you from all directions, especially at night, that it’s never boring! I love it!

How’d you get started with exterminating? When did you figure out that it was a good fit?

I'd get a kick out of watching you on it, that's for sure.

You know, some of the shit I like about my job... it ain't that different from what you just said. Of course I don't gotta deal with people directly as much. But the work keeps me moving, keeps me busy in a new way, most days. I'm too goddamn fidgety to just sit behind a desk, focus on a screen.

Was into architecture, when I was younger. Still am. But I was always poking around buildings, really looking into their guts, y'know? Gave me plenty of chances to see all the creepy crawlies that can set up camp.

Then when I dropped out of college, took a couple odd jobs with a local pest control place. And here I am, exterminator extraordinaire.

Know you dig snakes, but how you feel 'bout spiders?
itmeanstruth: (oops)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-04 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we’re not all that different when it comes to what we like to do. Except for the obvious healing vs killing thing.

I’d probably never have a tarantula as a pet or anything. But I don’t really mind them. Something’s crawling on me and I don’t know what it is, it’s probably gonna get squished. But find a spider in the apartment, and I’m usually pretty good about catching it and putting it outside. Are spiders your favorite bugs?
exterminatory: (say today is ratcatcher day)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-05 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, killing's only part of it. Might sound cheesy, but you could say I think of it as healing the space. Fixing up the places where people live, making 'em as fit and pest-free for human occupation as they're gonna get.

Yeah, I do dig spiders. They're also the other big category, 'sides rats and snakes, tends to give folks the major heebie jeebies. I've done some jobs trying to recapture escaped tarantulas. They're real neat to watch.

Guess I wouldn't be opposed to having one myself. But I'd never trust my Little Killer not to tangle with it.

You ever had Kazumi around other pets before? She show any interest in 'em?
itmeanstruth: (snake)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-05 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I’ve had her more around other people than other pets. She’s super curious, though. Very comfortable with being handled. I think she’d be all right, as long as nothing goes after her. She’s probably a little too trusting for her own good, honestly.

I swear, people get creeped out by the weirdest things. Anything give you the heebie jeebies?
exterminatory: (everywhere the rats are running free)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-05 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny how some animals are just like that, all kinds.

I ain't too easy to rattle. Probably less cool than Kazumi with other people all up in my living space, though. Wouldn't wanna go back to havin' roommates. Ever.

Feel like we kinda come full circle. But you got any serious fears? Not rats or snakes, obviously.
itmeanstruth: (Brothers)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-07 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Roommates aren’t too bad, depending on who they are, I guess. I mean, my brother and I share an apartment together, and we get along great. But we also once shared a womb together, so we’re pretty damn used to each other by now.

My biggest fear… would probably be something awful happening to Isamu. If he just… died unexpectedly or something, you know?

Okay, that got a lot more serious than snakes and spiders. Sorry.
exterminatory: (say today is ratcatcher day)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-07 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You're a twin, are ya? That's neat. Real different from anything I ever imagined for myself, y'know? Even when I was countin' up the odds, running around all young and wild, against kids who seemed to have whole heaps of siblings.

Hey, sometimes shit gets serious. All good. Can see how it's a legitimate fear.

Is Isamu way different from you, personality-wise?
itmeanstruth: (Brothers)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-08 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Fraternal twin, yeah. And we’re like night and day, I swear. He’s basically a walking encyclopedia. If something can be explained in five words, he’ll use fifteen. And if he’s talking about his biochemistry thesis, I probably don’t understand a good fourteen of them.

You have any brothers or sisters?
exterminatory: (moon coming up in the sky)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-09 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That's cool you guys're so close, 'spite of your differences. Definitely not the case for all sibs, from what I seen anyways.

Nah, I was an only child. Kinda unusual for a Ukrainian family. Guess my parents really broke the mold.

You get along with yours? Parents, I mean.
itmeanstruth: (Brothers)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-10 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I do. It’s a lot easier now than it was when I was a kid.

Papa’s a biomedical engineer and before we were born, Mama was a clinical engineer, so doing well in school - especially science - was just a given. Isamu had that covered, and then some. But I’ll give them credit, they got two for the price of one. And they did try to make sure both of us felt loved and supported. They’re proud of how we both turned out, so far, as people.

What are your parents like?
exterminatory: (Default)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-10 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds to me like you've made your peace with maybe bein' the least smartypants one in the bunch. Ain't an easy thing to do, so gotta give ya props, there. And it's nice, that your parents are cool with you being you. They buggin' you and your bro about grandkids yet?

Ma's from a farming village. Real country and city mouse love story, I guess. But she ain't no rube. Wicked wit, and she can spin a yarn that'd leave ol' Pushkin sweatin' over his knitting needles.

Pops was a structural engineer, 'fore we moved over here. A stubborn old SOB back then, and a stubborn old SOB now.
itmeanstruth: (oops)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-11 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! How’d they even meet?

Thankfully, not yet. But at least when they start, it’ll be Isamu that’ll get the brunt of it. Not me. It’s no family secret that I’m about ace as they come. No thank you. They’re not getting any grandkids from me.
exterminatory: (say today is ratcatcher day)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-11 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
My dad bopped around a lot, back in the day. Story goes he was taking trains from Moscow to Warsaw, lines broke down in the Ukrainian boonies. Two weeks of an unexpected layover later, my ma was Mrs. Fet.

Ha. Announced the same to my parents, 'bout the grandkids anyways.

So would you rather not be in a relationship, period? If ya don't mind me askin'.
itmeanstruth: (Doubt)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-12 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn’t it a given that most relationships are supposed to, you know, end in sex? Like, that’s the whole point?
exterminatory: (Default)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-12 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He could chuckle (not scoffingly, but with genuine amusement) but he doesn't. Instead Fet just looks thoughtful. ]

For a good amount of 'em, yeah. Sex and marriage and babies is the big story, and some people do seem happy enough, telling it.

Then there's those of us that just full-stop at sex. But why should a relationship without sex be any weirder?

Guess what I'm wonderin' is, do you want any of the rest? Hanging out with someone, shackin' up if you want. Finding somebody to grow old with, all that jazz.
itmeanstruth: (oops)

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-12 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I don’t know. To answer either question, really… I guess I haven’t thought about it all that much. I’ve never really been lonely. But I guess maybe someday?

Do you? Or, did you?
exterminatory: (Default)

[personal profile] exterminatory 2022-01-13 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough.

I think about it sometimes, yeah. But I keep choosing to be alone. 'Cause it is a choice, right? One you gotta make over and over again, if you feel the life you've made is worth keeping just as it is. And I do feel that way. Way more than I'm ever lonely.

[ Which is not never, but shh. ]

Maybe some of us are just meant to be the sorts that leave everything to their pets. You got any prized possessions for Kazumi to inherit?

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2022-01-15 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Something tells me she’d slither right out of Mama’s necklace. Haha.

What about you?
