[Showing up at Jill's door for a long-since-planned date, Dante lugged a wrapped box under one arm and a bag in the other, accompanied by his most earnest attempt to look like he was going on a real date put on display. A dress shirt, slacks, and a coat that wasn't leather--clearly his level best. The gift had been a point of pride for him. On one half of the box, a bottle of aged single-malt and on the other side, a knife wrapped up in cloth and leather. For all intents and purposes, it didn't look particularly exciting.

On the news, information scrolled on about an attack on the city center caused by a gigantic creature made of ice destroying the city's Christmas tree. The attack was thwarted by two men in red and blue who, after bringing down the creature, proceeded to get into an argument and fought in the city square until authorities arrived.

He had his biggest, stupidest smile on, knowing full well she would have gotten a call from somebody about it well before he got there. Hell, he was early. That had to have helped, right?]

[These days, they really don't get much time to do... well, much of anything. Christmas should be a time of warmth and fun with loved ones, but what usually ends up happening is Peter attempting to sit down for a nice holiday dinner with MJ and May, only to be rudely interrupted by the flavor-of-the-week in the form of emergencies. It's almost like he's cursed to never spend a holiday actually relaxing - though half the time he does it to himself, ruled by his own sense of duty and responsibility. Bless MJ for sticking by him for this long. She definitely deserves better.

This year is going to be different, Peter decided quite early in the month. There's never a quiet night in New York but sometimes he needs the reminder that he can take a night off, that there are others out there who can help those in need, and sometimes helping his own loved ones should be the priority. He wants MJ to enjoy Christmas and not spend it worrying about what trouble he may be getting into, or being disappointed yet again. Thus, he made an effort to hang up the suit and suggest they go out for the night, to do something fun together, because God knows they could both use some fun.]

You know, I don't remember the last time I went ice skating and didn't fall flat on my face...
