It wasn't unusual for Reira to end up both alone and lonely for long stretches of time. Her closest friends all had lovers of their own, things to do and people to see outside of work. The fact that she didn't have that and wasn't a priority for anyone ate away at her.

Not wanting to sit at home all alone with those feelings, she got dressed up and went looking for a distraction.

The bar she chose was nicer than the usual ones she found. It was full of people talking, laughing, with pleasant music playing...the sort of place her band would have played at before they made it big. She ordered a drink and found an empty table in a quieter section. It wasn't long before she had company.

A slightly older man with dark hair had asked if he could join her, and of course she had said yes. She sensed that he was looking to forget some things for a while, too. He was lucky -- she was very good at being a distraction.

"Thank you for buying me a drink." It was her second one, and had caused a lovely blush to color her cheeks. The smile on her lips was bright and sincere as they made small talk. "But I don't recall you telling me your name yet! You can call me Reira."

It's not as though he minded. While he was on missions like this-- hundreds of miles away from those he cared for, his mind would begin to wander, slipping into states of extreme melancholy. He attempted to steel his nerves, of course. The booze as a means to wash the blood off his hands, the company as a distraction. Like a fog corrupting his thoughts. A small part of him wanted to insist he were better off alone, but.

"It's not a problem." he uttered in a half-muted tone, in between taking another swig of his vodka. "Kiritsugu Emiya."

Reira was surprised he had given his full name. Most of the men she met in places like this never did. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Emiya."

She took a sip of her drink, studying him beneath her lashes. His attention certainly wasn't on their conversation. This Kiritsugu seemed quite troubled. So was she, but she was apparently better at masking it.

"You look as if you need cheering up." Her tone of voice was flirty and lighthearted, and there was a suggestive look in her eyes. Feeling bold, she reached across the table to lightly touch his arm. "Would you like to come with me? Keep me company, and I'll cheer you up...I even have a room at the hotel nearby."

It was a luxury one with discreet staff, large rooms, and every amenity one could wish for. Somehow, it only made her feel even more isolated.

It's astute. No, his focus wasn't on their conversation-- or even her. And, perhaps if he were more sober, more in control of his own inhibitions, he really ought to protest her offer. Instead, he finds himself nodding along, agreeing easily with her suggestion.

"I'd like that."

Would he? Well, in his alcoholic haze, he seems to think so, anyway. Extending the arm she had touched, he offers her his hand.

Reira smiled when he agreed to her offer. It felt so nice for someone to simply offer her his hand...she took it, starved for human contact, while finishing the rest of her drink and grabbing her purse.

"Then follow me," she said cheerfully, twining her fingers through his hand as they navigated through the crowd and towards the door.

Her excitement began to wane a bit when they entered the hotel and got into the elevator. Her small talk didn't seem to interest him. The penthouse suite was hers, and there were many floors...the awkward silence unnerved her. "Are you sure you wish to be here?" she finally asked, tilting her head back to look up at him. "If you'd rather go home, I'd like to know now." Her tone was kind enough -- she just wished this man had not wasted her time.
