Maura had heard about missions going this way sometimes. They never had for her, but there was a first time for everything, and with their target down and both of them with only scrapes and bruises to show for it, still riding the high of teamwork - it made a kind of sense, didn't it? That a congratulatory, adrenaline-fueled hug had evolved after the work that had gone into pulling it off. The worry, the tension, the fear that they wouldn't come out of it all unwinding into hands finding their way into places and clothes ending up on the floor.

Lucita has, in her thus far short time at King's Landing, taken great pains only to portray herself as a foreign ambassador from a distant land -- seeking an alliance between House Lannister and the House of Aragon, nothing more or less than that -- and as yet, the mask hasn't faltered. It's even true, as far as it goes. She's not bound to serve her mortal father's interests anymore, but occasionally it serves her and the Lasombra to use his name and influence.

She suspects the people here see her as an exotic oddity, though no one has yet said that to her face. The fact that she's only about at night -- she's cited some unusual illness that keeps her abed and unable to receive visitors during the day, save for her sole maidservant -- and her uncontrollable, assiduous avoidance of mirrors and other reflective surfaces only adds to the mystique. Lucita's unbothered by whatever rumors might be spread about her in court; people will talk, and she truly could not care less.

What has been somewhat of a surprise to her has been her interest in Queen Cersei -- quite aside from the fact that winning the queen's trust or, at the very least, her cooperation would be advantageous for her diplomatic mission. Maybe there's some similarity that draws her; she does recognize, after all, a woman trapped in a cage too small for her ambition, wound through with bitterness and spite and arrogance. Her own anger wells from a hatred of being confined, told what to do, told who to be. They're not all that different in that particular regard, and the cold cruel twist she sometimes notes in the curve of Cersei's mouth isn't foreign to Lucita either.

Or maybe it's less complicated than that and she is, as ever, attracted to very beautiful mortal women. She doesn't actively try to seduce the queen, but all the same arranges to spend gradually more time in her company. Lucita has a particular skill at appearing to be trustworthy, even warm when necessary, and she uses it now. If she can safely demur drinking any wine while they're together, she does -- though the same invocation of the power in her blood that lets her appear to be a perfectly healthy human woman allows her to consume small amounts of food and drink, it'll make her sick later and she hasn't any desire to make any more of those sorts of excuses.

It's Lucita who makes the first move, on a night when she hasn't sated her Hunger as well as she'd like and the tempting throb of Cersei's pulse in her throat is too difficult to resist. They've been drifting gradually closer into one another's orbit all evening, and -- well, Lucita doesn't usually use sex as a pretext to sate her need for blood, but Cersei is very beautiful and it has, in fact, been several decades.

So she tilts forward, letting her fingers rest on Cersei's jaw as she leans in to kiss her. It's not especially sweet or tender or demure, either; Lucita wasn't any of those things when she was living and she's certainly not any of them now. She suspects she'll know in approximately half a second if her advances are unwelcome.
