[ The marketplace is a pretty one – less Knowhere, more Novacore suburb. Lots of natural light, tree-lined streets, not too crowded...

The guy trying to get her attention is very grey, with a practiced customer service smile beneath those facial ridges. Between that and the small tablet in his hand, he looks like he's collecting signatures to save the local old growth forest or something. ]

Forgive the intrusion, but I was hoping you'd be able to assist me with a small matter.

[ he's way too attached to his ex bff, so help him get out of it (or be nero and come get your man). ]

[ Looking back on recent days and weeks, part of Atem can't help but feel as though he managed his self-appointed task relatively well. It took some thought and careful actions, but in the end, he achieved his goal. Considering how close he and Yugi are and how there are very few secrets between them, this is really no small achievement.

And while he understands that Yugi's friends and family have a group celebration planned, this is just something he wants for the two of them. Their bond is intact, of course, and they're still just as close as they've ever been, but now more than ever, he feels like this gesture he's about to make is one of the most important things he could do.

It's just a matter of getting the setup just right, because of the unique bond that he shares with Yugi. At the moment, he's just inside his soul room, waiting for Yugi to return to their bedroom. That's when he'll put his plan into action. It should be soon, he thinks, but it isn't as though he's not used to waiting. ]

[ They may have no secrets from one another, but, Yugi can tell that Atem is holding back on something. He didn't want to press for answers though. They were speaking easily to one another again, talking about what games to play, and tentatively even discussing going back to Duel Monsters as a competitive sport. Though, honestly? He would be fine if they never played in a tournament again... but, he knows his other self enjoys the competition.

And, he has done his absolute best not to bring up certain relationship or person. Yugi figures the whole situation is too sensitive. Especially after he nagged him about filling out that notebook.

He walks into their bedroom and closes the door behind him. Off goes the school jacket and his socks. The Millennium Puzzle is placed on the side of the headboard where it normally hangs, and he falls face first on the bed. There's nothing wrong really. He's just... tired. ]

[ He assumed that Yugi could tell that something was going on, but he didn't want to give it away before he was ready. And after everything that they've been through recently, this gesture of his, however silly it might seem, feels important.

After all, this sort of thing only comes once a year. And in a way, this is helping give him something else to focus on besides that certain relationship and person.

When the door closes and Yugi finally lands on the bed, that's when Atem makes his appearance. ]

Yugi? [ He notes the way he's lying on the bed, and he can't help but be worried. ] Are you all right?

[ He might if he put much thought at it. He's more in the scope of mind of just going with things at the moment.

Regardless, Yugi shakes his head. ]

I'm fine, just tired. [ It's not a lie and he's not trying to hide anything. Just... avoid certain topics that keep bothering him in the back of his head. ] Why? Is something bothering you?

[ He nods when Yugi responds by saying he's tired. ] I can imagine that you would be.

[ He gives his other self a fond smile then. ] I won't keep you awake longer than needed, but-

[ This is when he hesitates, because he's not entirely certain how this particular gesture will be received, since it did involve no small amount of planning and being a little secretive. ]

I- Well, I have something for you.

No, it's fine! If you need anything, really, I don't mind!

[ Yugi would rather be tired the next day than feel his other self can't talk to him. Especially after everything...

He sits himself up and tilts his head. Something for him? Well, the two of them do give one another the space and privacy they need when they're in control. Especially lately. He's reminded then of that text he got from Luna earlier about plans over December... he'll bring that up later. ]

You do? Really? [ Yugi leans forward just a bit. ] What is it?

[ The cliché would start with Victor knocking on a door, package in hand, to find her on the other side. But after the mansion, he moved as far as possible, Wick and money and all, leaving everything about it far, far behind. There was very little chance that he'd ever deliver a letter to those people again. He finds that he hardly remembers them at all.

Which is why he slows to a stop next to a large garden on a new route, eyes round as he realizes that he remembers the girl in the straw hat tending the plants there. It's strange because he shouldn't know anyone here. It's strange because he's resigned himself to not knowing anyone ever again. ]

M-Miss. Miss?

[ He knows her name perfectly well. It's just that his voice never quite came back after the mansion. He feels like it should have. Poetic justice, or something like that. Not much to be done about that, though. ]
