you love spending time with your significant other. but sometimes, just "spending time" with him/her isn't enough. you need to have your hands on each other every now and then.

one; hugging. you just want to give your loved one a warm embrace. be it out of happiness, to comfort them while they're down, or just to give them something warm to latch onto, you just want to wrap your arms around them.

two; kissing. whether it's a peck on the cheek or a deep kiss, a kiss good-bye or a romantic kiss, you find yourself compelled to kiss the other person! be as tender or as passionate as you so choose.

three; holding hands. it's a simple gesture, really -- to reach out and take someone's hand. but that one simple gesture can convey any number of sentiments. what the sentiment is, is up to you, but you find yourself reaching out to take your significant other's hand.

four; carrying. is your loved one hurt and needs a lift? do they want a piggyback ride? or do you just want to spare them the effort of walking? whatever the reason, you're now itching to pick up your partner and carry them to their destination.

five; i love you. you've said it before or maybe you haven't but now you have to say it again or for the first time.

six; dancing. kick up the music, because it's time to dance! but no lone dancing allowed -- you need to have a partner! you can do whatever dance strikes your fancy. personally, i recommend the slow dance, but you can do whatever you want!

seven; massaging. did your significant other have a rough day? did they get hurt? or do you just feel like doing something really nice for them? whatever it is, you're giving them a nice massage now. they'll feel wonderful in no time!

eight; flirting. the easiest way to break the ice or maybe you're just an overly flirty person.

nine; cuddling. sometimes there's just no better feeling than curling up next to each other on a warm sofa. hold each other, lie next to each other, fall asleep on each other -- it's all good here.

( it's been rowdy the past couple of nights, drinks and music and fun filling the bar. it's no real surprise that more than half of them have called it an early night this time, the laughter having died down to something comfortable over an hour ago. tatara has been quietly strumming away on his guitar, keeping to his end of the couch and bidding the members a good night, one by one. he's never had an attachment like this, such a strong sense of home. sometimes when he lets himself think on it too much, it knocks him off balance.

but mikoto is napping on the other end of the couch — at least he thinks he's asleep, he can't really tell, if he's honest with himself. still, he moves his guitar from his lap, careful to set it aside, and reaches for his hand. this is what's the most different, he knows. sitting here in izumo's bar, warm and filled with something that feels a lot like contentment, he knows it all started with mikoto.

maybe that's what prompts him to give his hand a gentle squeeze, grazing his thumb against the side of it. )

[ Jayce never got into science for the politics. His elevation is more like a wholly unintended side-effect, an unfortunate symptom, and so it leads to this: him being drawn away from the work, spending less and less time in the lab, instead his eyes aching over Council matters, pinching the bridge of his nose to stave off that perpetually-lurking headache. Somehow, he never suffered from headaches during those long hours and all-nighters down in the lab with Viktor.

He misses those days. They were simpler.

Tonight, his tie is loosened and dangling half-undone around his neck, cuffs unbuttoned and shirtsleeves rolled up to his elbows, a map of Valoran on the table in front of him. Trade routes and negotiations, treaties allowing access to Piltover's Hexgates, tariffs and sanctions cutting Demacia off from said Hexgates, and he feels dizzied by it all. Show him a set of cogs and gears and pistons, and he'll understand how the machine ticks. Show him this tangled web of political machinations, and he's at a complete loss. Mel understands more of it than he ever could.

Finally, exasperated, Jayce pushes himself back to his feet. Before he can reconsider, he's already walking, long legs carrying him down the stairs and down the dark halls, to— ah, yes, there it is. It's past midnight but there's light spilling out from beneath the edge of the lab door. As always.

He eases the door open to the familiar sight of Viktor sitting hunched over the desk, lit up by blue light, with terrible posture; Jayce remembers suffering from that same neck and aching shoulders, that pinch in the muscle. He hovers in the doorway for a second, looking in — a flare of affectionate warmth at the sight of it, this laboratory and Viktor, unchanged — before he crosses the room and moves to stand beside his best friend. ]
