For whatever reason, a person just refuses to cry when they clearly want to or calls themself weak for doing so. That's when someone tells them that there's nothing wrong with showing sadness or vulnerability.

Daniel was supposed to be out celebrating his victory with Ali, his Ma and Mr Miyagi. He had defied the odds and somehow managed to win the All Valley. He knows it had been more luck than talent but he's still proud of himself. He never even expected to make it past the first round.

But he had left the restaurant early. How was he supposed to celebrate winning after what went down in the parking lot after the tournament? Kreese had almost killed Johnny. Probably would've if Mr Miyagi hadn't stepped in. And what had Daniel done to help? Nothing. He froze. He completely froze.

His knee was killing him. He had managed to talk his Ma out of dragging him to the hospital, but he was sure that a trip to the doctor was in his near future. He probably shouldn't be driving either, but he drives out to the beach, hoping to clear his head. That's when he sees the back of a familiar head of blond hair. "... Johnny?"
