Most everyone has some sort of scar. Some are from happy accidents. Some are from events you'd rather not speak about. Sometimes, people can share a moment over scars: Be it friendly, romantic, or even with a complete stranger. These are those moments.

01. NEW: the scar is fairly new-- maybe you still need to do something to make sure it heals properly. maybe you're just worried about the new scar that's appeared on someone you care about.

02. DISCOVERY: you've just had someone find out about your scars, or you've just accidentally learned that the other person has scars. do you say something, or let the moment pass?

03. SHAME: maybe you're ashamed of your scars. maybe you want someone else to know that there's no need to hide their scars around you.

04. SHOW: you're proud of your scars, or at least you don't see a reason to keep them covered-- never have, or not anymore. or maybe someone is showing you their scars for the first time.

"Nothing," he says after a beat too long.

Cause.

Staring. Or, you know, not-staring. He has the decency to feel embarrassed or whatever. This idea was supposed to be a fun, dumb teenager thing, not an excuse to see Jason way less clothed than usual. Not that he's regretting that either, scars and all.

"Yeah, okay. So, you gonna get in the pool with me, or just watch me?" Jason has no shame calling it out either, with a very smarmy look on his face at that.

He doesn't wait for Stiles to get over his shit, he just jumps in the pool... the biggest cannonball he can manage, splashing water out everywhere. "Woohoo!!"

Well. If anything was going to knock Stiles out of staring, it's getting splashed by Jason's cannonball. Which also helps break the tension on the part of him that was feeling kind of weird about stripping off anything around Jason, so. There's that.

His shirt goes to start with. He's not vigilante-fit, but he's pretty fit, and he's not vigilante-scarred, but he's... pretty scarred. Standouts include a nasty slice across his abdomen where the Nogitsune cut himself open, and. Well. The bite Donovan took out of his right shoulder, which becomes visible when Stiles half-turns in the process of stumbling out of his jeans.

When Jason comes up for air, pushing his wet hair out of his face, it's his turn to get a look at Stiles when he pulls his shirt off. He's more fit than Jason thought he would be, but those baggy clothes Stiles wears seem to hide a lot. Especially those scars which are a lot more unusual shaped than his own.

He swims over to Stiles, pushing up a bit so he can rest his arms on the side and look up at him. "That's some scar you got on your shoulder. What happened?"

..Right. So.

Her can't stop himself from tensing up some at the question. That particular scar is... still fresh, so to speak, and not something he likes to think about a lot, especially given all the bullshit surrounding it. "I, uh. Got bit by a wendigo."

Jason notices the tenseness right away, but it didn't even occur to him not to ask about it. It's kind of all out in the open now anyway, isn't it?

"A what?" Okay, so many not that out in the open, cause Jason isn't really sure what that is. "I mean, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. It's no big deal."

"It's fine." Well, kind of. Explaining what a wendigo is is fine, anyway. "Cannibal monster. Way too many teeth."

Yeah he's heard of myths and stories and stuff like that. There are different versions in Gotham, but the basics are all the same. Jason supposes something like a Wendigo would seem just as mythical as Batman is to some.

"Yeah that's some fucking bite pattern you've got there." Jason says as he swims closer to where Stiles is. "Did you kill it?"

His reaction to Jason casually calling Donovan it is - well, it's not great and he's not hiding it, but it's not Jason's fault, either. He doesn't get that the supernatural creatures Stiles talks about aren't just animals. "It was a he. A shitty guy, but - " He swallows. "And yeah. I did."

Not like Stiles has given him any other indication, or that this wendigo was anything more than just an it. A cannibal monster, that's what he said. Seems pretty cut and dry to him.

"A shitty guy that tried to kill you? Good for you for getting there first." Maybe there are other ways. Batman certainly thinks so. But what are you gonna do? If something takes a chunk out of you, you fight back.

Stiles seems upset about it, though.

"I didn't actually mean to kill him, but - " He shrugs, awkwardly. Sometimes it still feels like he's lying when he says it was self-defense, but it was. He did his best to stay alive, and that killed Donovan in the process.
