The Dragon's Bride

Flames, then ash. Your village will be left with little else should the dragon that plagues the countryside not get his demanded sacrifice...if you're lucky. Your good fortune turns south, the bones of your neighbors (or whatever else remains of them) litter a new charred graveyard that was once a town. So, the necessary offers must be made.

At least that's the hope. The alternative would be too awful to contemplate.

In a last-ditch effort to save those you love — or against your will, as these things tend to go with forcibly created martyrs — you have been hoisted onto the pyre, waiting for the dragon to fly off with you. What terrors race through your mind as your doom impends?

How you'll end up in a beast's belly, no doubt. Except, you must consider this: there are worst fates than being a dragon's next meal. A monster that covets you as its treasure...a new type of danger unfurls its wings. You've become a dragon's bride.

But could such an infernal creature ever learn to know honest, unselfish affection? Is it possible to be more than a "spouse?" A mere treasure?

Perhaps, you could learn to be a dragon's love.

HOW TO PLAY
✗ Comment with your character, roles ("dragon" or "bride") prefs, etc.
✗ Y'all know how this goes. Approach "dragon" as a stand-in. The monster mash could be elves, orcs, goblins, werewolves, demons, dwarves, fey, purple people eaters, what have you. Of course, actual dragon and shifters folks are welcome, too! And don't think that you have to make your boring human a boring ol' human. Consider this the monster/supernatural being/cryptid/creature AU of your dreams!
✗ Second verse, same as the first, "bride" registers as gender-neutral 'round these parts. That word choice just sounds a touch more poetic.

He has come to claim his prize. He has earned his bride, hasn't he? So what if said bride is one he has known for so very long - and the Lord of the Luofeng Pavilion. Longyan is in his dragon form when he approaches, scales gleaming and his eyes fixed on his prize.

"Climb on my back."

If anyone were to call him a prize they would possibly be hurt. Then again, it could have been worse. It could have been someone that he hasn't known for thousands of years. Though, it makes him wonder whose idea this was. Or maybe this was due to other factors. He does, however, raise a brow at those words.

"You think I'm going to do that?"

When he could easily slip anywhere that he wanted and Longyan knows that. Or maybe it's a matter of pride, possibly. He might need a minute and he's a bit annoyed.

"Qianxun..." the dragon's timbre shakes the ground and brings the frightened souls around Qianxun to their knees, "I did not request."

Certain factors must be acknowledged for this ritual or it will all be for naught. Longyan can explain later, but for now, he is the mighty, ferocious dragon. No one is safe from him.

Or does he have a soft spot for his bride?

Qianxun raises a brow when the ground shakes. Unlike the souls around him, he does not fall, nor would he. This wasn't the first time that he's felt the ground shake beneath his feet due to Longyan nor would it be the last.

"You demanded."

Who in their right mind demanded anything from him? Even Bingxing knew better. Everyone in Luofeng Pavilion knew better. The dragon before him had best be glad that the Lord of Luofeng Pavilion liked him.

He might make the other wait a bit longer before finally relenting and climbing onto the dragon's back. It didn't mean that he wasn't still a bit annoyed.

"I am a dragon." Longyan answers without shame, without apology, his tail swishing as he waits. The heavens have stories for them; stories that they must fulfill. It is rather silly, but he doesn't mind marrying Xue Qianxun. There is no other immortal he likes nearly as much.

Feeling the weight on his back, he lifts into the air again and flies them to his palace. The show is what is important. Both of them could have traveled to the palace quicker.

"Make yourself at home..."

Upon landing, he transforms, as nude as ever. Is this awkward?

Qianxun knows exactly what his friend is. It doesn't, however, mean that he can be as demanding as he wants. Not with him. Funny how one knew more of what was going on than the other. Then again, Longyan got out far more than he did. Most of the time he stayed in his Luofeng Pavilion.

The air against his skin when they fly is... interesting. Nothing that he's used to. They both could have merely disappeared from the Pavilion to the dragon's palace. They hadn't needed to fly.

He does, however, move over to an all too familiar table. Longyan's nudity not as awkward as it should be. They've both seen each other naked before, just normally for healing purposes, and no other reason.
