i will follow you into the dark; a darker shipping meme
It's the end of the line for you. No matter how long you've been here on this planet, in this universe, that time is over now. Pain wracks your body, or perhaps it doesn't as you drift away from this life. All that remains is that ever fading light -
And the face of the one you care for the most.
For they are joining you on this last journey, as difficult or as easy as it can be. This could have been planned - you wanted to die together - or you both happened to be in the same place at the same time. Your world could be crashing down around you in a final armageddon; you could not be missed, the world turning without you two in it. One of you brought this onto you both; you tried to save your companion. You killed them yourself. It was all an accident...this wasn't supposed to happen...
How you've come to this doesn't matter so much in hindsight, though your sight is dimming as it as. What does matter is how you spend these last few moments with the person who means so much to you. If you're lucky, the two of you have lived a long, happy life together. Those who find themselves faced with a more tragic ending will have just realized their feelings for each other.
You don't have long, only a few moments. Make of them what you can. Reveal your secrets, touch their hand one last time, give them an embrace or a kiss. Apologize, if you see fit. Do what you did in life, but make it count and hope that you will see them again somehow.
- Comment with your character and preferences. If you have any ideas or anything you do not want to touch, be sure to include those, too.
- You can play this as serious and as dark as you'd like.

( it wasn't the first time their travels had led them to a less-than-reputable village, but this time lenore was making it no secret that she had a bad feeling about this place, in particular.
the way they scrutinized her as they had gathered supplies, the looks that they cast her way... they knew. and it was becoming clearer by the night that they didn't approve of the two of them. )
We should just pack our things now, and go. What's the sense in trying to save a village when they're not going to appreciate you for it, anyway? I'm sure they'll be able to deal with their... demonic abomination or whatever it is they have on their own.

( trevor sighs as he turns to face lenore. his cloak is over his shoulders once again as the nights grow colder. ah, autumn. what a brilliant season. perfect of the pair of them as well. given she's well, the undead, and he's the hunter of the things in the night. )
Whatever is plaguing this town will simply go to the next, and then the next, and then the next. Best to stop it here and have them hate us than risk more lives. As soon as we find out what it is and kill it? The sooner we're done.

( and reckless. and oafish. but also kind, beneath the layers of stink.
it was one of the things that lenore had come to love about trevor as she had gotten to know him.
despite all of the hardships he endured, or the blows he took... he was still fighting. and somehow along the way— he'd given her a reason to fight, too. )
And I hope you know they don't deserve an ounce of it.
( but there was a resigned sigh from lenore, knowing there was no talking him out of it.
so... coming along with him was the least that she could do.
it was a long time ago that she'd adopted form-fitting pants in place of the long dresses she preferred to wear, though the embellishments and feminine touches to her ensemble hinted that she still enjoyed the finer things in life. her long hair was braided, hanging over her shoulder— ears strategically tucked beneath its layers. )
Fine. Then, we make our move tonight.

( he has a job to do; a legacy to uphold. though he won't say he isn't oafish or reckless. still, she's the one that has decided to tag along with him. she has all of vampire kind she could mingle with -- even alucard himself. yet, here she is, mucking it about with the person who hunts her kind down. )
They really don't. ( he stops, and gestures to the children who are finally being hushed into bed by their mothers. twilight has settled on the small town.) Except for the ones that do. The innocent ones.
( he does miss those long dresses. )
I don't suppose you've managed to find out anything?

he was a hunter, sure, but lenore had also seen clearly the sorts of vampires that he did hunt. the ones mad with their bloodlust, unwilling or even unable to compromise on how and when they fed... but it wasn't always so black and white as that either, just as there were shitty humans so too were there reasonable vampires, kind ones even...
but a place like this didn't care for foolish ideals like that.
which is why she wanted so badly to just get on with it. )
There's an old shaft, meant for mining, a few miles north of here. Rumour has it that it used to be quite the hotspot for ritual sacrifice, a regular delight the previous cardinal would partake in.
( even if the odds had been against her in town, it seemed that this negotiator was still able to come out on top. )
That's likely as good a place as any for some unholy abomination to take shelter. I imagine it'd probably feel right at home.

Oh, lovely. Ritual sacrifice. I haven't ended a night on one of those since we killed Dracula.
( he sighs. )
Still, suppose it might be good for you. No sunlight.

( it came with the tone that sounded as though she intended to jeer him, just a little. )
Which is fine for me, since I'm quite looking forward to taking these boots off for a full day and night once we're out of this wretched place. ( at her core, she still had the same tastes for the high life... ) But, I digress. And... thank you. For thinking of me.
( she didn't miss that remark about the sunlight. )
The horse should be ready about now, too.
( they could afford just the one...... )

( for the jeer she gets a rather serious answer. the cruel loss of human life is always a bit of a sore button. )
I'll be sure to buy you a pair that are a bit better on your feet, Your Queenliness. ( there's a tone of teasing underneath the comment that, to anyone else, might sound like a disservice. anyone that doesn't know trevor belmont anyways. ) It wouldn't do me any good to have my traveling companion burst into flames on my consciousness.
( he cares. somehow. )
I hope you don't mind sharing a horse with a commoner that slays monsters.
no subject
You know, I'd like that.
( she says, without a hint of irony.
she'll even forgive the title of travelling companion, with the promise of a new, and perhaps unbeknownst to trevor, expensive pair of boots. )
It just so happens I know that commoner recently took his mandated bath this month— ( lenore is, for the most part, teasing again— ) so the ride should be mostly tolerable, I'd think.
Shall we be on our way, then?

( though, he wonders now how much she truly has adopted to the lifestyle. she can be a diplomat anywhere she wants with various different people. he'd think that'd be better than being stuffed up in carmilla's palace, but, what would he know? )
Well, if you can find better places for baths, maybe I'd take more. ( he raises a hand and waves away her statements. )
Ladies first.
