How to Play

❤ You know how the record plays.
❤ NO BLANK TOP LEVELS. Your character just had someone tell them that they want them. How do they respond? Take charge, swoop in for a kiss? Put some moves on them? Cry? Offer them an egg in this trying time? If you tell them to get out of your house, you don't know them, that's valid too. Whatever works! Just give us a line of dialogue here or some action spam there. Play it straight. Play it goofy. Be sexy and be excellent.
❤ The person who replies to you is the one who fessed up. This can't possibly go wrong.

She hadn't expected that to just come out as is has. And now Christine is debating adding in the 'to punch' to make it less awkward.

He might have been hoping that was what she meant, honestly. But punching isn't really her style. The mirth in his eyes fades into something worried and uncertain as he places his hands on her shoulders.

"How do you mean it? A night? A fling? Or something more...indefinite, more serious?"

It makes a difference. He has yet to screw up a one-night-stand, but them already being friendly complicates things.

"You're lovely, and kind, you see, and I don't want to destroy your life."

"I'm not really sure," Karen says honestly, folding her arms across her chest. "The words... It kind of came as a surprise to me, too." She looks at him unflinchingly, waiting for a response and at the same time half-dreading it.

"If you'd like me to check to make sure you're not enchanted, I can do that." It's a tease, an attempt to release tension. He's honestly not sure what to make of this, flattering as it is. "You do know I'm trouble?"

Practically the definition of trouble, really.

"You're a beautiful woman; there's no question of desirability here, just to be clear. But I do rather tend to be where peoples' romantic lives go to die. Unless you're looking for something relatively casual, you're courting disaster."

Then he blinks and glances up distractedly, then looks back down at his work. ]

Sorry, you wanted what? Here-- hold this. [ And he's suddenly shoving the bundle into your hands, whirling off to dig through a nearby box filled with more miscellaneous nonsense. It's completely impossible to determine if he's being deliberately oblivious or whether he really is that distracted. ]

She's quiet, her eyes wide, her face pale, her breath caught for a moment.

I want you.

There are a thousand different reactions firing off in her mind, trapped there by eons of practise. The last time she'd been told that, she'd given in, she'd loved. And then she'd had to say goodbye too soon for her liking. Then again, that was war and this was not. This is different.

Her eyelids flutter a little and her head cants to the side. Slowly. Jedi are not forbidden relationships but attachment can be dangerous. They are not told they cannot love. But there is nothing more dangerous as an all-consuming love, a love that one cannot let go of when the time comes. She has let go before.

She can let go again.

Her back presses against the wall and her eyes close, her breath is shallow for a moment then deepens slightly. Control. The Force hums around her, invisible to most, bright to her.

"If you want me," she whispers, her voice low as her bright blue eyes lift, unfocused but with a sureness in them, "then we shall have to do something about that." There's a soft amusement about it, too, a gentle teasing as she reaches out. She has wants, too.

John had not meant to ask anything about his feelings. He had been content to simply have Arha back after years of hiding who he was to stay safe. But the most recent brush with the Inquisitors had brought into sharp relief how terrified he'd been at the thought of losing her.

The words had flowed out of him the second they'd been safe. He'd laid bare everything in his heart and finished with. "I want you, I always have...I know it's wrong...but this is a new galaxy...perhaps we could be new people....new Jedi."

Then he'd waited unable to breath until she was reaching for him and he met her the rest of the way tangling their hands together without hesitation his own bond with the Force finally brighter than it's been in years. "I do," he adds, "I will do whatever you want as long as we do it together."

[A quick, sudden blink, fluttering lashes betrayed by her amused smile, if one looks closely enough they observe a rare occurrence: Nariko is shocked. Maybe it is the brazenness, or the setting, or the relationship but the last thing she could have expected was such an earnest confession.]

[It's impossible to tell if she's flattered or amused, head tilting curiously as she laughs. Is this actually worth taking seriously? It isn't enough to say the words, especially if there's no oomph behind them.]

Maybe reconsider your options.
