The Twincest AU Meme

Incest between twins is a subclass of sibling incest and includes both heterosexual and homosexual relationships. While in modern Western European culture, such behavior is considered taboo and is quite rare, incest between twins is a common feature in Indo-European, Asian (such as Japan, the Philippines, and Bali) and Oceanian mythology, and there are a few societies in which the prohibition on it is limited or it is partially accepted [Wiki].

For your whole life, you've been a one-of-a-kind. Maybe you've had siblings, but your siblings are different or older or younger. Nobody quite like you, nobody exactly close.

Or has it been like that? Don't you have someone closer than a regular sibling - a twin?

In this meme, you do! You're a twin. And not only that, but you're...close. Closer than close, actually, in ways the outside world might not understand. It may be a misconception, or you could actually be inappropriately involved; yet in the end, you still have each other, just as you started with. And who needs anyone else? You two don't.

HOW TO PLAY

AU your character into being a twin. It will probably be fraternal twins so you can account for differences in appearances and/or gender.
You can age characters up or down to be the same age.
Otherwise, comment with character information and then tag others.

The truth is that Kieran would give just about anything to have "normal" problems with his father. They might argue over his grades or the friends he hung out with, about whether or not he'd have to get a job if he wanted to have a car-- things that he assumes most young people butt heads with their parents over. But neither Kieran or his twin sister Abigail have ever had, or will ever have, anything close to "normal" when it comes to their parents.

For one thing, their mother is dead. For another, it's their father who killed her, and who is now almost certainly hunting the two of them down. That's why to rejoin Abigail, he's not walking into their house in Minnesota but into a third-rate motel outside of Columbus, Ohio.

By now, it's habit-- Kieran scans the parking lot and the rest of the motel before even approaching their room, and then again before he unlocks the door. That he does quickly, ducking inside with his bags of takeout food, shutting the door firmly and locking the knob and deadbolt. Finally, he relaxes a little, turning around to the shabby room and its single bed, both of which he's been sharing with his twin sister for three days now.

She sat on the bed, legs crossed and under one of the blankets she grabbed from home. It was one of the few things they had enough time to grab before realizing what had happened. Abigail knew all along what their father was—- after all he brought her with him to pick the girls he was going to kill.

But she never expected he would go after the rest of the family. Of course the FBI were looking for him, but that didn’t really make her feel safe. The only thing that did was staying behind locked and bolted doors. When Kieran was away it was even worse. She hated when he left, thinking the worst possible things imaginable.

So when he returns, and with food no less, she sits up, the blanket still draped around her shoulders. “Thank God,” she mumbled when he came in. “You weren’t followed, right?”

She was already up and at the window, peeking through the blinds to see if there were any new or different cars outside the motel.

Neither of them had been exempt from being pulled into their father's twisted, brutal activities. Where Abigail had been forced to choose the unfortunate girls and lure them into the trap, Kieran's contribution happened afterwards, with their father forcing him to help hide the remains and destroy evidence. Had he purposefully done less than his best the last two or three times, giving the FBI just enough clues to make their move? Even Kieran wasn't sure.

All he knew was that he was grateful for getting enough warning to get him and his twin sister out of that house before the raid. It meant, at least for a while, a life of running and hiding, but at least they were together. Abigail meant everything to him, more than he'd ever understood before they'd had to escape.

He nodded. "I doubled back twice, and circled the motel before coming in." Kieran's tone was as certain and assuring as he could make it. He knew that his sister worried, and didn't want to give her any reason to. As he watched her peer out of the window, a thought came to him, wondering if he could ease her mind with a little distraction.

Kieran stepped up behind his sister and looped an arm around her waist, gently tugging her against him in a very un-sibling-like fashion. As he did, he drew the heavy blackout curtain across the window. "It was a little chilly out there," he whispered in her ear. "Want to help me warm up a little?"

He managed to reassure her as she counted the cars outside quickly. She knew he knew what to do, but the fear of their father catching them was real. This time it would be them, she knew. It was hard to shake that kind of fear, but he was the one person that could calm her down.

He drew her back against him as the blackout curtain was moved in front of the window. “You’re freezing,” she said, feeling his hand on her stomach. “Luckily I brought my blanket.”

Even if it was draped around her shoulders, she would obviously share.

"Of all the things to bring," Kieran mused with a soft laugh. He teased a little, but he would never begrudge his sister's instinct to save something good from their old lives and bring it into their new ones, whatever those might be.

He let Abigail go and moved back just enough to make room for him to draw the blanket off her shoulders and swirl it around them both. That done, he eased them back away from the window until the back of his legs hit the edge of the bed. Kieran dropped onto the mattress, bringing his sister with him until she was sitting on his lap.

Under the blanket, his arms moved around her again, holding her even closer.
