midnight textings

The Midnight Texting Meme It's the middle of the night and you're trying to catch some z's — or brooding alone in the alleys, as one does — when your phone dings and suddenly a stranger or a friend is texting you. What could they possibly want at this hour? Is it important? Stupid? Are they drunk or maybe just needy? ● Post with your character's name and canon on the subject line, indicate preferences as needed |

[ but hopefully this time, she won't go overboard again? ]
screams softly
[It will be. A small point of panic.]
But I'm looking forward to going home, too.
[Recognizing her land is as much his home now as she is feels special. Mere months ago, he wouldn't've felt right to claim it as that.]
!!!
Even if you will need to hold my hair back again.
[ has he ever called monsea home before? he's belonged for a long time, in her eyes, but-- she doesn't recall, now, if he's known it. if this was another thing she was blind to. ]
Do you [ is this too fast? not fast enough? does she need to ask? should she not? ] Will you move your things into my rooms?
i'm so happy :>
[She'd talked about their children, they might have children someday--
--A line of thought which is very rapidly distracted by an equally delightful one, in response to her query.]
Would you like me to? [It sounds like she'd like him to.] I would love to do that. Although I should probably keep my Council work somewhere separate.
[They'll need to figure out a way to keep her as distanced from it as possible, and make that obvious for anyone who cares to look. The last thing he needs is someone else catching the consequences of his own actions.]
me too ;;
she's been leaning on him. it hardly seems fair, sometimes. ]
I'd like you to.
[ hold back her hair. children. her rooms. any and all of the above, even if the topic of children hasn't been brought up again, not in this conversation. adjacent, maybe, morning sickness and seasickness are not that far from one another. ]
And that's probably wise. I think my advisors will have enough of a fit as it is.
[ if there are consequences to his actions, they'll face them together. she'll accept nothing less. ]
;3;
[Giddon can almost tell her word-for-word what it would be. She probably can, too. And he's not insecure about their feelings for one another. He's not uncertain about the fact they should have a relationship. Too much had happened, of late, for him to want to shy away from that.
But. He is, maybe, a little uncertain about what that relationship should look like. And so.] You're certain you want to be married to a disgraced nobleman-turned-revolutionary?
['Married,' clearly, being the point of concern. He would be more than content, with being her lover. Certainly she'd be lectured less for it.
It would be safer for her, if he was her lover. That's the important part.]

[ but he's right. she knows it and he knows it and her advisors are going to worry and worry and worry about this. bitterblue's mind is made up, though. she's been blind and a coward, but she's not planning on returning to either state. ]
I'm sure.
[ unless-- ]
You're not?
[ she wants, needs him to be on board. happy with it. she'd thought he was. ]

Please understand: I love you. It would be the epitome of happiness, for me to be your husband. The absolute highlight of my life. That is the complete and honest truth.
[That said.]
I also worry if it's what's most wise, for you and Monsea. You've trouble enough with the other kingdoms without being wed to a man most of their leadership hates. I don't want to bring you more.
[He's her person, after all. He's supposed to help her with her problems, not add to them.]
no subject
maybe that's selfish. if it is, this will be the one selfish thing bitterblue will allow herself, the one time she will not put monsea's interests before her own. ]
I love you, too.
[ that first. that foremost.
she forces herself to read his messages again, then again. forces herself to examine the tangle of emotion in her chest. and comes to the same conclusion again. ]
I am not going to let their thoughts ruin this and I will not let others' thoughts push me into treating you, this, us as less than what it is.
[ he's her person. the man she wants to marry. ]

They'll tackle the problem of others' opinions together, then. It's a bit of an uncomfortable feeling, knowing the kind of harm it might bring to her. For a moment, his mind spins to think of simpler solutions-- briefly touches on quitting the Council-- before he recognizes the feeling for what it is, and almost has to laugh at himself for it.]
You may have to put up with me feeling rather anxious about possibly bringing doom to your door, then.
[She'd said she wanted to be his person, too. That she wanted to offer him emotional support. It's not instinctive, to offer this sense of nerves and insecurity to her, but she's always inspired him to try to be better than he was.]
no subject
If there is doom, we will handle it together.
[ right? she wants to be able to offer him this. she recognises, too, that this is no different than her telling him that she'll need to lean on him hard, worrying that it will be enough, not what he deserves. ]
no subject
We will.
I suspect I might still feel guilty, even as we do handle it, but I'll try to let you help me feel that less.

I love you. [ it still feels so novel. it still feels so big and meaningful. bitterblue wonders if it will ever become ordinary, certain, well-worn, like a cozy blanket. ]
no subject
I love you, too.
