Have you ever wanted to make sure everyone knew what was yours, so they'd keep their hands off? Well, if you haven't before, you're feeling that now, and those emotions are not towards a possession. They're towards a person you want to claim, no matter if your personality is territorial or not. Or maybe you're the one wanting to be claimed. Either way, this will end in sex that's either public, running a high risk of discovery and publicity, or that leaves marks There are as many reasons why this desire has cropped up as the imagination allows: frustration, sexual tension, disbelief of others that you're a couple, anger at others trying to steal what's yours, punishment or to remind someone they're yours, a personality-altering gas, hormones, heat, a mutual kink, for fun, for showing the world how much you love them, or even in order to save them and show some despots that this person is taken because better you than anyone else. How serious the "claiming" instinct also depends on entirely upon what you really want. I was thinking an AU where they became close a few years earlier, and Ignis didn't realize there was something so completely off during his visits. In Kojiro's defense, this was all Kaoru's idea. It started with some stupid argument, like most of their shitty ideas do. Some nitpicky bullshit Kojiro shouldn't have said, blown way the hell out of proportion by the fact that Kaoru's too stubborn and petty to let anything go, even after Kojiro's fervent apologies, and a long night dedicated to demonstrating exactly how sorry he was. After all that, Kaoru still had his claws in it. His anxiety is, frankly, a fucking nightmare at the best of times.

So he's not spontaneous? So he can't operate without a fucking plan? Fine. Then they'll spend a date night spontaneously operating with no plan, and go wherever the wind takes them. It sounded too sinister to be good-natured, and Kojiro should have known better.

So a walk turned into watching the sunset. The sunset turned into dinner over wine. Wine turned into let's get drunk somewhere. And drinking? Drinking brought them here, to one of Kojiro's old haunts. And haunt seems like an incredibly appropriate word for what's happening here, because the rings on their fingers don't erase the fact that at least five people in this place -- six, if they're including Kaoru -- very definitely have intimate knowledge of what Kojiro's packing in those tight jeans. And the more Kaoru drinks, the sharper his eyes become, the more aware he grows of that fact. It's making Kojiro absolutely itch, but it's a pride point at this juncture. They're finishing this date night, because Kaoru's trying so hard, and Kojiro's not about to discourage him.

They're sharing a fishbowl margarita over a back table when two of Kojiro's friends enthusiastically invite themselves to sit. One, Tanjiro, a very pretty slip of a man with perfectly-coiffed red hair and tongue as sharp as Kaoru's. The other, Ayako, a voluptuous woman without a hint of modesty, and when Kaoru looks in her eyes, he could swear he's staring into a mirror. He can also tell from one look at Kojiro's strained smile that there's a very strong possibility he's shared a bed with one -- if not both -- of them.

But possibly the most infuriating part of the entire nightmare scenario unfolding before them is how forward they both are, and it just gets worse as the liquor keeps flowing. Ignorant -- or possibly apathetic -- to the wedding rings, Tanjiro and Ayako both repeatedly imply that Kojiro should find his way to their apartment some time. And-- Well. That's clearly not happening, and Kojiro is incredibly polite about side-stepping the implications.

Ayako finding an excuse to touch Kojiro's hand? That's when he finally excuses himself to the restroom, and nods abruptly for Kaoru to follow. ]
