Calming Presence

You're about to go off the rails. No, no "about," actually. You've left that train track fair behind, and you're crazy. Rage fills every inch of you, and there's no doubt you're about to do something dangerous, stupid, or reckless. Or all three. There's only one person who can calm you down: your partner. Now, they're using closeness, reassurance, or physical intimacy to remind you what really matters, which is the two of you. Surely, this will bring you back, letting the anger ebb out and you'll be able to think straight again, even if your lover was the actual cause of all this mess. Won't it? Surely you won't direct your wrath towards them, no matter what. It is not hard to know when Wei Ying is angry anymore. Once he would have hidden some of it behind a smile before he lashed out, quick as a snake and twice as deadly. Now he lingers at the edge of irritation more often that not, like a rattlesnake that never stays it's tail. The creeping tentacles of resentment go from sensation, only noticeable to trained cultivators, to a swarm that is visible to the naked and untrained eye.

He's stalked away from the tent of sect leaders, looking for their next target in the seemingly endless sunshot campaign. The flap of the tent mirroring his dark robes and the stares of the sect leaders looking terrified or worried after him.

Wangji makes his excuses by not saying anything at all, leaving just as silently as Wei Wuxian had not and follows the cold trail of resentment that builds the closer to the source he gets.

He finds him, far out of the way of any cultivator and seemingly up a tree. The darkness is a writhing mass that seems to scald him as he steps closer, hissing at him as he approaches.
