BACK TO SCHOOL AU

BACK TO SCHOOL AU
It's that time of year when you have to make the journey to the hallowed halls of learning and social development! Students pile back into classrooms, teachers prepare their lessons days in advance (or maybe the morning of, we're not judging), and clubs and sports try to recruit for the new year. It's Back to School season and maybe with a new year, or a new school, it could be a new you?
But not all schools are the same. Maybe it's your first day at a Magical Academy, or you're a senior about to graduate as an officer from Military Prep, maybe you switched universities and need help learning the layout, or you could even be about to take your
RULES
- Make a top level for your character with preferences, including what prompts you're cool with, if your character is a student, teacher, coach, teacher's assistant, etc, if you want high school or college, and whether you're down for shipping. This is a gen meme, but no one is telling you how to get your ship on.
- Comment to others with starters!
- Use RNG or just snag some prompts, no one is looking.
TYPE OF SCHOOL AU
- Modernity High
It's your regular, average high school set in the modern day with nothing special about it. That doesn't mean there's not something different about YOU, if you want to play it that way. - Military Prep
Simulations, missions, and uniforms. You know the drills. What kind of military can be entirely up to you. You could be a space pilot, or a frontline soldier, or an engineer helping with logistics and weaponry. Are you training to defend your country, or to defend your entire planet? - Magical Academy
Spells, elements, animal companions and sparkly transformations, too. Magical Academies can be so many things! Or who knows maybe you're the lone Normal who ends up in the middle of a magical school. What would you do? - Boarding Schools
You have to leave home and live somewhere else for most of the year and maybe you revel in the freedom, or are riddled with homesickness. What kind of life do you live without your parents' watchful eyes? Do you keep to the rules? Do you get up to youthful shenanigans? Boarding school life can be very unique. - Supernatural High
Monsters, demons, fairies, and witch's brews. Supernatural Highs have all the creatures that normally wouldn't be accepted in Normal High Schools, but they've found their place here where they can be themselves. Or maybe they are trained in how to blend in with the rest of the world? - Wayside School
Have you ever thought that something was just a bit off about your school? Like one of the floors is always missing. Or there's a teacher you know but others insist doesn't exist? Or maybe some of the students are just a tiny bit uncanny. Something about this school leaves you feeling uneasy but you can't put your finger on it...yet. - School of Fight Me
You finally managed to get accepted into this exclusive training school to be the best fighter ever! What school of fighting? What type of skills are you trying to gain? Are you training for the big tournament at the end of the year? - Darkness Academy
Maybe you were sent to this special school by your parents not knowing what it was. But they'll continue sending you forever just because, this is the school that never ends. Darkness can only be your friend. Some people starting attending, not knowing what it was, but they'll continue sending you as you are one of us. It's totally not an evil cult, honest. - Superhero High
Being a hero is all you've ever wanted and you chose to come here to train and be the best hero you could be. Doesn't matter if you have powers or not, you know there are other ways you could help those around you. Teachers may be heroes you've known and watched all your life, or even reformed villains doing their best to prove they've changed. This is a place for bigger than life expectations, you hope to live up to. - College Towns
You're at college now, old enough to move out and seek your own life as an adult, but still young enough that you need the guidance of mentors and teachers to find your place in the world. Is it all parties and blowing off your classes, or do you buckle down and get that degree in half the time? - WILDCARD
Have another type of school, such as a culinary school? Performing arts? Graphic arts? Firefighter college? Want to mix and match these prompts? Go right ahead!
PROMPTS
- First Day
It's the first day of your new school experience! You need to get your schedule, meet your new teachers, and learn your way around the campus. Hopefully nothing gets in the way of that, right? - Before Class
The bell hasn't rung just yet. You have time to talk to friends (or swap notes), study for a test, talk to a teacher about extra credit, or get up to shenanigans before the rest of the students arrive. Just make sure you're on your way before you're late! - During Class
Listening to the teacher? Taking those notes? Or maybe you're passing them. Huge test that you didn't study for? What do you do now? Sneak looks at someone else's test? Hope no one gets caught. - Lunch Time
Time for food. What's the secret meat today? Any specials on the menu? Do you have a group of friends you sit with or are you searching for a spot by yourself? Are you eating or working through lunch somewhere else in the school? - Group Projects
Say hello to your new project partner(s). You'll probably have to work very closely together for the new few days or weeks to get it done on time. What kind of project are you working on? Are you doing a presentation? Building something? Research? - Detention
Oh dear. Now you've done it. You got in trouble and have to pay the price. Doesn't matter if you were in the wrong or the scapegoat, you're stuck in this room for however long your detention lasts. What did you do (or get blamed for)? Who else is here with you? Do you have a plan to pass the time or intentions to escape without the monitor noticing? - Teacher Prep
Teachers need time to get things done too. Who knows all the other work they could be doing throughout the day. Or maybe they have conferences and you're talking about your grades? Offering help with tutoring? - Elections
Student council positions. Homecoming court. Senior class field trips. Sometimes elections are a thing that settle big moments of the school year. Whether you're campaigning for yourself, or your person of choice, elections can get contentious. Just make sure no one is trying to sabotage your efforts (or maybe you're trying to sabotage someone else's?) - Match Day
Football (all of the footballs), tennis, baseball, boxing, wrestling, debate, chess, baking, tournament day and more. When it's a big match day at the school, there is always a huge audience watching to see who comes out on top. - Club Hours
Extracurriculars are very important for a solid foundation of youth! Whether it's sports, drama, art, music, table top games, or being part of a local ecofriendly youth organization, club hours and your participation can really build a sense of community and friendship with you and everyone else. Hopefully you've got a good sponsor watching over all of you. - Studying
Whether you're buckling down in the library for a big exam, or tutoring someone else who needs to boost a low grade, studying can be intense. And what if you want a more hands on type of studying? Ready to strip a car for shop class to catalogue all the parts? Or find all the ingredients for a new potion in the local wood? Or maybe you have to watch documentary videos or classic movies for a film class. Who said studying could only with books? - Dances
It's that time of the year when the big dance is getting closer and closer. Are you working up the nerve to ask someone? Intending to go stag? Would rather crash the party? Or maybe you don't want to go, but someone else is dragging you along. Or maybe you're a chaperone stuck watching all these kids and making sure no one is spiking the food (last year someone hid catnip on the table and all the werecats got way too cuddly right on the dance floor). - Senior Prank Day
If pranking your rival isn't your style, maybe you just want to prank your school itself. Seniors can be so creative in how they playfully turn against the principal, teachers, or even younger students. Maybe it's something like filling the swimming pool with water beads. Maybe it's putting buckets of magic dye all over the school to drop on people when the last bell rings. Or maybe the prank gets turned around and it's the seniors who get their comeuppance instead. - School Rivalries
They've never gotten along. The schools always find ways to go hard in sports, debates, even the spelling bee. Competitions are just part of your rivalry. You can't even see someone from your rival school on the street without tension and a chance for something to go down. Are you someone who buys into this rivalry? Or maybe you're an innocent bystander dragged into a plot to pull the Ultimate Comeback against the other school. - After School
The final bell rings and it's time to go. Do you have an afterschool job? Need to get home? Something less than reputable you intend to get up to? Once you're off campus, anything goes. - WILDCARD
Any other school-related activities? Want to mix and match or combine all of the above? Go for it!
