They don't go far, when the day is won and the helicopter picks them up again; just far enough to get them back in US territory. That's how the four of them find themselves in a cantina in Puerto Rico, the crowd loud and boisterous, the air heavy and humid like you're wading through soup. The liquor doesn't help, shot glasses and lime wedges and spilled salt scattered before them; but fuck, is there a better time to drink than after being up to your nose in danger, and not only surviving, but winning? You got to do shots. It's like a law, or in the bible, or something.

Harley's still in her battered princess dress- now hanging sad and limp, after her swim in the ocean to wash off all the Eye Goop. She'd thought maybe Milton, earlier, with his gruff voice and that salt-and-pepper look he's rocking; but now she's looking at Abner, who's maybe finally managed to relax, face open and those eyes bright instead of big and sad. She leans in without thinking, catching his chin with her fingers to pull his face toward her, and catches his mouth with her own.

The first kiss is almost shy, chaste; lips brushing lips, soft, barely there. The second is deeper, firmer, and Harley lets her eyes fall shut, fingers sliding up the line of his jaw, and her mouth moves with intent against his own. The tip of her tongue brushes his lower lip, soft encouragement, coaxing his mouth to open.
